Lead singer of Morgan Heritage, Peter Morgan, has died

Peter Morgan was one of Jamaican singer Denroy Morgan’s over twenty children. He was born in Brooklyn, the New York City borough that has been home to thousands of Jamaicans since the 1960s.
Morgan Heritage was formed in 1994 by five Morgan siblings. They were subsequently signed by MCA and released their debut album Miracles the same year.

After the release of Miracles, the family moved to Denroy’s homeland of Jamaica.
In the years following, Una Morgan and Nakhamyah “Lukes” Morgan left the group, leaving Peter, Roy “Gramps” Morgan, and Memmalatel “Mr. Mojo” Morgan.

They successfully worked on group and individual projects.

The group’s 2015 album Strictly Roots won the Grammy Award in the Best Reggae Album category in 2016. The band later released the album Avrakedabra, which was nominated for another Grammy in 2018.

Great voice, great talent. Big loss to the industry. Tenor voice of the Morgan Heritage family group where he fronted with his Brother Gramps Morgan known for his unique baritone voice.Morgan Heritage performed in the BVI last August where i missed the performance that many described as epic and the best of the Festival season.

Peetah and Gramps' voices blended so well. Such beautiful harmonies.

One of my favorites and their most political 'Tell me how come'.

The way the family framed the announcement pose certain questions. Hope he wasn't a secret addict. Weight of all of them can lead to those kinds of results too.

Mi deh yah - just passing through- having retired back in March 2022, I’ve been just taking it cool. And can sleep to 9am if I wish, versus the usual 6am to be at work 7:30.

Mi a Luv it. And as usual always have a Guinness to cool down with!!
