I had to read the post heading 3 times for me to remember and for it to sink in that Butts died in a car crash last year.
So sad hope his family is doing as well as they can.

Investigations revealed that at about 15:15 hours, Butts, the driver and owner of motor car PTT 66, and a lorry, GAC 7592, collided at the intersection of the Eccles Industrial Site Road and the First Access Road west of the roundabout. The impact pushed Butts’ car into the path of a van, GAE 8844.

As a result of the accident all three of the vehicles were damaged and Butts sustained serious injuries. Emergency medical technicians attended the scene and transported him via ambulance to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries

People all over need to slow down. Maybe speed rules need to be enforced more rigorously.

Drinking and driving. It's criminal.

This afternoon, President Dr. Irfaan Ali participated in a memorial T20 cricket match in honour of the late Guyana and West Indies cricketer Clyde Butts at the Everest Cricket Club Ground. The match dubbed "A Day with the Legends" saw participation from
a number of past West Indies and Guyana cricketers, including Sir Clive Lloyd, Roger Harper and Ramnaresh Sarwan.

The match began with the Sarwan-led Challengers taking the first strike and scoring 134-5 in their allotted 20 overs. Among the top scorers were Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport Charles Ramson Jr. with 20, Sarwan with 18 and President Ali with 10.

In response, the Leon Johnson-led Champions scored 132-6 before the overs expired. Former Guyana and West Indies cricketer Sewnarine Chattergoon led the attack with 35 runs, while youngster Matthew Nandu and seasoned campaigner Shemroy Barrington scored 21 runs each.

Here are some pics that the President posted on Facebook...

The increase in motor vehicle traffic I. The Caribbean has not been matched with basic technologies such as stop signs timed or otherwise. Nor, with adequate, honest policing

There are these trucks up and down the EB road all day. huge trucks fetching sand. Plus there are so many more cars now on the road. A logarithmic increase in the number of cars and most don't know how to drive. It's a recipe for disaster!

Many West Indians die in crashes in the USA even though they were drivers in the Caribbean for years.
