In reply to jacksparrow
It doesn't work when you dont put enough runs on the board and the opposition is also playing Bazball

Are we witnessing a changing of the guards for India? Youngsters who’ve been kept in the shadow for such a long time are stepping up to the plate as prima donnas take a break.
In reply to Chrissy
Seems that way, but with this brand of English players, you never know. For the love of the game, I hope the next 3 days or 2 days throws up something exciting.
Bazball has done wonders for England and it seems some of the young and exciting Indian batters also have that approach- it bodes well for Test Cricket.
In reply to Narper
I just feel the "bazball " approach is a bit reckless, ala West Indians at times, whereas the opposition, in this series, are capitalizing on scoring opportunities and, taking singles to rotate the strike I might add.

There's a distinct difference between the way the two sides batted. I was watching Sarfaraz bat, and he played himself in, and got used to the pitch, before playing his shots. The bazball calypso collapso approach is to hit the ball hard from the very beginning, and there are no consequences if you get out to a poor shot while doing so. Bazball was doomed to fail in India.
Gavaskar and Kartik correctly pointing out that to be successful at Test level, you need a good defensive technique, and that of the current England batsmen, only Root seems to have that. You only have to look at the England Test batting averages to see that's the case. Most of them average in the 30s, including the overhyped Stokes and Bairstow.
In reply to mikesiva
out Caught by Bumrah!! Root waltzes down the track and mistimes the loft to find the stand-in skipper at long-on. End of England story. India complete a comprehensive win. They seal it by an innings and 64 runs.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH
Kuldeep Yadav
First up, I raise my bat at reaching 50...
Hopefully, I will be around for many, many more...
The series ends in the beautiful Dharamshala setting, with India once again proving far too strong for the visitors. The approach chosen by the English in recent years has brought success and much interest. Yet here, faced with a quality outfit it fell short repeatedly. Despite the missing stars of Pant, Shami, Kohli and others, India proved again that they are at the top of the test tree along with the Australians, who are currently battling with the Kiwis in another interesting test match.
The final result of 4-1 looks one-sided. Well, it was, regardless of any thoughts and comments by English cricket fans, players or coaches. They were thoroughly outplayed in all facets of the game.
The leading run scorers were as follows:
Y.Jaiswal 712 runs at an avg of 89, including a pair of double centuries. After just 9 tests, he has already passed 1000 runs. Deserved Player of the Series.
S.Gill 452 runs at am avg of 56, including two centuries and a ninety-odd.
Z.Crawley 407 runs at an avg of 40. Four 50s yet failed to reach 80. Still, among the few brighter spots for the tourists.
With the ball, the following players led the way...
R.Ashwin took 26 wkts at an avg of 24. Exceptional performance once again.
T.Hartley took 22 wkts at an avg of 36.
J.Bumrah took 19 wkts at an avg of 16.
K.Yadav also took 19 wkts (avg 20)
Note, James Anderson reached 700 test wickets, only the third bowler to do so.
In reply to mikesiva
Could not have put it better. You can score quickly, and some batsmen are better than other at this, however you cannot force it, inevitably the ball wins.
Mc Callum was naturally aggresive but to get everyone to bat like him is reckless. I wonder what he would have done with an Alistair Cook.
By the way, Jimmy is a boss but he should retire now. England need a little more at that #11
