HEADLINE: West Indies Squad Announced for T20I Series Against South Africa

KINGSTON, Jamaica — The Cricket West Indies (CWI) Selection Panel has announced the squad for the upcoming T20 International (T20I) Series against South Africa. This significant series, preceding the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup, starts on Thursday, 23 May, at the iconic Sabina Park. The squad has been gearing up for this exciting and highly anticipated series with a training camp held at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua.

The Selection Panel has confirmed that Brandon King will be the interim Captain for this series and Roston Chase as the interim Vice-Captain. King was set to lead the West Indies A-Team on the recently concluded T20 tour to Nepal before he was withdrawn due to injury. Chase, appointed instead, went on to lead the A-Team to a series win against Nepal.

The West Indies Men’s squad for the series is as follows:

  1. Brandon King (Captain)
  2. Roston Chase (Vice-Captain)
  3. Fabian Allen
  4. Alick Athanaze
  5. Johnson Charles
  6. Andre Fletcher

In reply to CaribbeanCricket.com They need to decide if they see Alick Athanaze as a test player or all three formats. If test, then they should have him in some camp to prepare for England, since he is yet to register a test 50. I just feel they planning his exit from the test team and he better be careful.

Hope the people in charge realize that they need to daub a little paint on Sabina Park stands to make the place look a little better. I know we in Jamaica are aesthetically challenged and are the last to see how ugly and unattractive the place looks, especially on TV. I'll be looking out to see if we have learnt anything from other cricket authorities around the world.

There was not enough time between the assignment of the games to the Yard and the actual beginning of the series for a proper paint job to be undertaken.
