The stadium in NY & Texas was sold out but for two smaller stands on both sides closer to the player's dug out- The ICC planned to hold these back and then charge $1000's- fans wanted tickets were steered to these super expensive seats weeks ago, was told other cheaper seats were not available.

Met husband & wife, Daksh & Zeel, at Newark Airport Terminal A. They flew in from Toronto over the weekend for the India v Ireland game and are going home tonight. Daksh paid $350, sat top row of section 217. Zeel refused to pay $350, went to lunch with friends in SoHo instead. Daksh says he regrets paying $350 & Zeel is rubbing it in. They say the other ticket prices not just for today but the India v Pakistan match are "disgraceful" and they're not surprised by 10,000+ empty seats today. "$2500 for the India v Pakistan game? That's a mortgage payment. It's shameful the way they're trying to get as much money as they can out of fans," said Daksh.
"Indian people love cricket, but they're also very logical thinkers," said Zeel. "I refused to pay $350 because it's not worth it. And no way am I paying $2,500 for India v Pakistan. I thought that when they announced World Cup matches in New York and the capacity was 33,000 that they'll never have trouble selling out for any game. But my husband sent me pictures when he got there of all the empty seats. Clearly, the fans have drawn a line in the sand for what they're willing to pay. Seeing all the empty seats let me know that I wasn't alone in deciding that it was not worth going today. I had a much better day spending it with friends in SoHo."

you remember the 2007 disaster:65 dollars for a burger, 30 TT for a carib or stag. was ridiculous...and you can't bring in food or drinks(well trikidadians found a way around that(beer in lotion bottles for example), banning of instruments. was absurd
