. First tell us what everybody here wants to know: Which pitch are they going to use (pitch no. 2 or no. 4)" They'll use the strip they used for yesterday's game, the low-scoring thriller that saw South Africa beat the Netherlands.
Vishal: "How's the weather at the ground? It's raining currently a couple hours away in NJ." It's not raining right now, though it is overcast. Think there's a bit of rain expected, though with some luck it might miss the stadium
Have a read of our preview, where George Binoy talks about Pakistan's predicament, and this piece about Pakistan's squad woes from yours truly. Sid Monga, meanwhile, is in New York, who tells us why this hasn't quite captivated the host city as some might have hoped
9am: We begin once more? Has there been a less fancied team in this rivalry in T20I history than Pakistan are against India today? Will that free them up, or does it motivate India to put the 2022 finalists on the verge of elimination in about five hours time? Join us as we begin coverage of these inevitably captivating match-up.

9.40am The whole square is covered as the rain gets heavier.. The spectators in the stands don't have cover.
Diyath: "Um How's the drainage at this ground? I'm not feeling particularly confident given all the other debacles" Apparently not the best, but we might find out today
varun: "I love the commentary but can you make it audible as well? Would be more interesting and user friendly while doing activities such as driving etc." I'd have to shout fairly loudly for you to hear me
9.27am The drizzle is getting slightly more steady now
9.20am Update from Monga at the ground. It's drizzling very, very mildly now.

Alosh K Jose: "Got to say, the weather in Paris is perfect for cricket... " They had their fair share of rain in the first week, to be fair
ashish: "@Danyal - you mentioned with some luck the rain might miss the stadium. Looks like you jinxed it right there and the rain decided to take center stage over the stadium." Let's see what else I end up jinxing

There's to be an inspection at 7:45pm IST. That's in less than 10 minutes from now. Chris Gayle is around, he's wearing a suit with tri-colour sleeves and he's greeting the Indian players starting with Kohli and Pant. He's proceeded to go and get an autograph from Rohit on his suit followed by the rest of the Indian players. Interesting scenes to say the least.

James : "There's a Spanish word, morbo, which has no exact English equivalent. It means history, added interest (for example, Real Madrid vs Barcelona has morbo). There are 2 cricket match ups which, to my mind, have morbo. One is England vs Australia which we had yesterday. The other, particularly because it's only played at world cups, is India vs Pakistan. We definitely can't prepare for weather like this but our preperations have been good so far. I won't think of avoiding any shot on this track, intent is very important in this format, don't think I have to avoid any shot. If team requires me to stay there, I'll look to do that. I was at the match yesterday with SA and NED and can say without any bias the pitch was not as bad as everyone is making it out to be! It just required a little application from the batsmen. All in all it was an exciting and competitive match.

Ahad: "Danyal, my favourite thing about your commentary is the unveiled disdain towards people writing in. Please never change" It's my favourite thing about doing comms, though I still enjoy people writing in. So keep at it, folks!
Shadow-Shell: "Is it the usual 1 hour extra time for rain delay to complete a full match or is it different for World Cups" There's an extra 90 minutes beyond the usual cut-off times for this game. So they'll try and get a full 40 overs in. There is, just to be clear, no reserve day
BalaBlazer: "Can they allow impact players just for this game? @yuvi and @shahidafridi can join the clash which will make it even more interesting. " Could not imagine a less interesting thing to do
Anant: "Looking forward to the creativity of the ICC in terms of scheduling a reserve game"

1:40 pm In this innings, it can be said that Rishabh Pant's luck has helped the Indian team reach 119 runs because if Rishabh had got out early, the Indian team would not have even reached 100 runs. At one time India's score was 89 for four wickets and it seemed that India would reach 140 runs, but in the middle overs, Naseem Shah and Mohammad Aamir broke the back of the Indian team. Now it remains to be seen how Pakistan chases the target of 120 runs.

Poor field setting by Rohit. The only way for India to win this is to take wickets. He should keep the slip

Bumrah to Rizwan, out Bowled!! What was that from Rizwan! You'd have thought he would be more cautious against India's best bowler. But he looks to take him on with an ugly slog and perishes. Length ball slanted in, stays quite low and goes under the bat as he swipes across the line. Off and middle stumps rattled.

That's the problem with conservatism. Allowing the lesser bowlers to bowl dot balls at you. Rizwan used up 44 balls in a run a ball chase to make 31. Defeatist! Now who will charge Bumrah.

A run a ball is never a run a ball in t20 cricket. The matrix says there were 6 hittable balls in the power play, 9 in the middle overs, 3 in the death overs that Pak failed to make use of. 18 balls not hit for 4/6 in a t20 match is hari-kari! Sorry Pak, you needed more intent.

Pakistan batters lost the plot with 3 wickets down.
Careful batting to grab singles and twos would have kept up the RR.
But once they had to' heave ho' against India they were doomed as losing
wickets against a disciplined attack spelled doom.
They can still finish in top two but they have to dominate in their last two games .....and hope...

Babar, Pakistan captain:
We bowled well. In the batting, lost back to back wickets and had too much dot balls. Tactics was simple to play normally. Just strike rotation and the odd boundary. But in that period we had too many dot balls. Can't expect much from tailenders. Our mind was to utilise first overs in batting. But one wicket down, and again we weren't up to the mark in first six. Pitch looked decent. Ball was coming on nicely. It was a little bit slow, and some balls extra bounce. Have to win last two matches. Will sit and discuss our mistakes but looking forward to last two matches.

Rohit, India captain:
We didn't bat well enough. Halfway through our innings we were in good position. We didn't put enough partnership there and fell short with the bat. We spoke about every run matters on a pitch like that. There was enough in the pitch. Was a good wicket to be honest, compared to the last game. With a bowling lineup like that you feel confident to do the job. Halfway through the stage when they were batting, we got everyone together and said that if it can happen to us, it can happen to them. Little contribution from everyone can make huge difference. He's going from strength to strength (Bumrah). We all know what he can do. Not going to talk too much about him. Want him to be in that mindset throughout the WC. He's a genius, we all know that. Crowd was superb. They never disappoint wherever we play. I'm sure they'll be going home with a big smile. It's just the start, we have a long way to go.
