ST. JOHN’S, Antigua – Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced an updated 15-member squad for the three-Test Richards Botham series in England, starting on 10 July 2024 at Lord's. The squad features one significant change: Kemar Roach has been replaced by St. Kitts & Nevis’ fast bowler, Jeremiah Louis due to Roach's ongoing rehabilitation from a knee injury sustained during the County Championship in England.

Lead Selector the Most Honorable Dr. Desmond Haynes remarked “Kemar’s skill and experience in English conditions will be missed however this opportunity has been long in the making for Jeremiah Louis, he certainly has the skill and experience to make an impact in England.”

The Richards Botham series, named after West Indies legend Sir Vivian Richards and England great Lord Ian Botham, is a historic rivalry dating back to 1928 when the West Indies first toured England.

Who are going to make the runs in this squad? It's the weakest battling lineup I have seen in years

The bowling looks ok even without Roach. But big question is the batting. I don’t know if Hope refused test but to me he should have been in the team and Chanderpaul should not have been dropped after 10 tests with a double century and a fifty and the only one after Brathwaite with an average of 30 plus. They should bat him in the middle order. Yes we caught Australia with their pants down but I don’t expect another miracle in England

You have to play what you have

If the top 3 can build any bit of a base and see off the new ball I do expect Sinclair, Hodge and Josh to be well able to make a decent score.
On the flip side weather has been really wet so far in England so we may see more swing than normal for mid July.
Forecast so far is fair weather for the start of the series.

Roach should have been replaced by a batsman. We have more than enough pacers already. And yes, Hope as more experience playing in English conditions and most of the squad members. Played county cricket as recently as last year. Shortsighted not to select him.
