ST. JOHN'S, ANTIGUA – Cricket West Indies (CWI) will hold elections for the office of the Vice President on September 20, 2024. On Tuesday, August 8, 2024, at a Board of Directors meeting, in consideration of the recent judicial pronouncement from the High Court of Guyana concerning the challenge to the Vice President's election initiated by the Guyana Cricket Board, the decision was made to have the re-elections as soon as possible. This decision means that Mr. Azim Bassarath has vacated the office of Vice President for CWI.

Commenting on the Board's position, CWI President Dr Kishore Shallow said,

"This situation presents an invaluable opportunity to strengthen the CWI Memorandum and Articles of Association. Over time, policies and frameworks will always be tested. As a Board, we must remain open-minded and committed to evolving in all aspects; this circumstance is a testament to such fact," said Dr Shallow.

From the time Dave Cameron was removed from the administration of WI cricket there were other folks who needed to follow , Azim and Conde chief among them. It's a cabal. To remove one and gloat ad nauseum about it isn't terribly sensible or thoughtful. Remove ALL. Look at fresh faces. They may fail you but then you'd know WI truly lack administrators in regional cricket.

Big set-up. They have already rigged the process. For an election someone has to nominate the person and that nomination must be seconded. No mention was made about this nomination.

He should vacate his leadership of the TTCB as well. Since Murray TT cricket has very little to show as progress. Poor pitches, no prospects in the pipeline, same old names keep recycling, etc. So what will he do as VP?

Does the president and VP contest the election as a team, or there is separate elections for the two offices?

His very poor performance as the President of the TTCB, I wonder how or what has he done to deserve this VP position of the CWI? Then we want to know the reason for the poor status of WI Cricket when we keep putting the wrong personnel in the WICB/CWI Administration for over two decades?
