PM Rowley T&T crime problem not my fault
Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley is fed up with being blamed for T&T’s spiralling crime rate, adding he is also tired of people seeking leniency for some criminals.
Speaking at a post-Cabinet media briefing at the Whitehall, Port-of-Spain, yesterday, Dr Rowley said those contributing to high crime should not be given a pass, especially those who harm children.
He also suggested that attributing high crime to officeholders is baseless, while he condemned the real “monsters” responsible for the bloodshed against law-abiding citizens.
“Don’t let anybody fool you, that crime is not being done based on who is in office. It’s done on the basis of whether there are benefits to be had by the perpetrators, and as fast as you stop or suppress one area, they surprise you with new ingenuity and heartlessness,” Dr Rowley said.
There have been over 416 murders recorded for the year already.

PM Rowley T&T crime problem not my fault
.... Rowley
Over 4500 citizens murdered plus hundreds missing and not accounted for under your tenure.
You are Head of National Security over the last 10 years ....
Women and children being shot and killed.
You cant blame the opposition anymore ?
Citizens are closing businesses and leaving the country.
Homeowners are being attacked and robbed.
Business must pay protection tax by criminals .....
etc , etc etc....
BUT ITS NOT YOUR FAULT?
I would engage you on this...but ...I honestly dont care...
But I will ask you this...
How is rampant crime and murders a Politicians fault unless he is ordering hits on people and communities him/herself?
Trinidad has always had a bad rap...and I am over 50 mate...it did not start with Rowley...
so tell me what is he neglecting to do that makes this his fault?
Oh mudda count, I can't believe what I'm hearing!
PS. I have reiterated it, x, times - socishitists don't care... it's only power they want!

Poverty The Mother Of Crime
In January 2016, Trinidad and Tobago witnessed a pivotal moment as Dr. Keith Rowley assumed office as Prime Minister.
I will delve into the tumultuous decade that followed, characterized by rising crime rates, economic instability, and public discontent.
Now the factors contributing to this crisis, the government's response, and the lasting impact of Crime on the nation.
Trinidad and Tobago's economy has long been reliant on its energy sector.
However, within the first five months of Dr. Rowley's tenure, energy revenues plummeted by $7 billion.
This decline was a significant blow to the nation's financial stability, leading to a budget deficit of over $9 billion.
The lack of diversification in revenue streams exacerbated the situation, leaving the country vulnerable to external shocks.
To address the growing budget deficit, the government resorted to borrowing and utilizing the Heritage and Stabilization Fund (HSF) savings.
When PM Rowley attained power the HSF was 12.6 billion US, today less that 5.5 billion US.
While this provided temporary relief, it also increased the nation's debt burden.
If T&T pays off its debt it will have no HSF left....
With no new revenue streams in sight, the deficits continued to grow, pushing Trinidad and Tobago closer to economic instability.
Rising Crime Rates
The crime rate in Trinidad and Tobago surged during Dr. Rowley's tenure, with the nation ranking sixth globally in terms of crime.
Newspaper headlines painted a grim picture, with phrases like "Bodies on the road" and "Merciless" becoming all too common.
In just one week, 14 individuals lost their lives to gun violence, highlighting the severity of the crisis.
Home Invasions and Robberies
The spate of home invasions and robberies further fueled public fear and insecurity.
Reports of over 2,000 robberies from January to July 2016 underscored the growing lawlessness.
Citizens felt like "sitting ducks for bandits," as young men armed and moving in packs terrorized communities.
Criticism of Leadership
Dr. Rowley's leadership faced significant criticism from various quarters.
An editorial described his governance as "a level of crassness unbefitting any national leader," while Prof Selwyn Cudjoe termed it "nastiness."
Such criticism reflected the widespread disillusionment with the government's handling of the crisis.
The Legacy of Governance
The decade under Dr. Rowley's governance is marked by what many describe as a "national disgrace."
Over 5,000 individuals were killed during this period, leaving a lasting scar on the nation's psyche.
The darkness of these ten blood-soaked years will continue to hang over Trinidad and Tobago, shaping its future trajectory.
The decade under Dr. Keith Rowley's governance the nation has grappled with economic instability, rising crime rates, and public discontent.
However, by addressing these challenges head-on and implementing strategic reforms, Trinidad and Tobago can pave the way for a brighter future.
The lessons learned from this tumultuous period can serve as a foundation for building a more resilient and prosperous nation.
Unfortunately PM Rowley's Government is clueless in addressing the above problems.
When a Government cannot provide safety for its citizens , its has failed.
I guess WI can never replicate what El Salvador has done. I wonder why?!
....
Who to blame for Trinidad and Tobago crime?
I won't blame the US or Canada for crime in TT. The leader or government of TT has the responsibility safety and security of the country.
However, Prime Minister Rowley passes the buck or the blame to others. He continually has absolved himself as the person responsible for tackling crime.
In TT, the rhetoric emanating from the Government is that it is not responsible for crime. Both the PM and his ministers appear to be spinning top in mud, none has any new ideas to introduce.
I believe the PM and his minister are fed up with ubiquitous crime, but they don’t have a sustainable solution or any new ideas, nor do they want to undertake a fearless approach. They instead absolve themselves from their responsibilities and keep blaming others.
In reply to sgtdjones Message to Jay...PM/his cabinet just want to be be remembered as statemen! At high level functions, they are gratified as they would be introduced as, 'here is former Minister of Finance...' Ah suh socialist stay, but, alyuh don't want to believe me.
To put it simply...they don't care about proper governance! They like being at the helm & once, in power, they do their darnest to retain it.
