Alex Jordan sounded gutted when Bethel out

imusic 2024-10-31 19:37:36

Her voice seemed to be bursting with pride when he came to the crease and started talking about his dad and sit gary etc etc

Are they family perhaps? Almost like she rooting fuh England

Ray123 2024-10-31 19:43:11

In reply to imusic

She's rooting for a fellow Bajan, albeit who is representing England. Maybe she knows him personally, I see nothing wrong with it.

wow! is Donna Symonds still commentating, I can remember while ago when she was the only female's voice in the Caribbean

imusic 2024-10-31 20:14:35

In reply to bird

My bad…..it’s Alex Jordan…..not Donna Symonds and she does an excellent job for the most part.

Was just surprised how she was so supportive of an inexperienced opposition player playing against the home team, and her reaction to his dismissal.

Walco 2024-10-31 20:15:05

That's Jordan doing TV commentary, not Simmons.

I am not watching the game, but if the poster's description is accurate, then it is sad.

She knew her stuff unfortunately she had to deal with a lot of misogyny being the sole female commentator at that time on radio .

Jumpstart 2024-10-31 21:47:06

In reply to powen001

She was actually the commentator when Lara reached his first ODI century against Pakistan at Durban against Waqar and Wasim in 1993, would have been either the beginning of 1993 or the end. That was the Total International Series in SA

and the IRony is that because of Prince Lara...her voice is etched with his achievement.

Jacob is Barbadian, and most of us have English relatives.
Most people last night on Mason and guests supported the youngster, so many of them remember his grandfather.

Bethel and Archer may have been born in Barbados, which is true, but they represent England, which is our current opponent. I wish them well against any other cricketing nations. I hope they make lots of runs and lots of wickets against all others and have a flourishing career. But against the West Indies, I want them out cheaply like any other England player. This applies to whoever makes a similar choice.

Give her our regards, hope she gets well soon. Pioneer and not just for WI. Re-Ms. Jordan, not unusual. Many occasions of one wanting an opposing player to do well but wishing their home team still win. Saw it in Yard with Dean Headley, Gladdy Small( not sure), Dev Malcolm, Makhaya Ntini
