India not going to Pakistan for Champions Trophy

Kay 2024-11-10 18:42:44

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed receiving a letter from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) over its refusal to travel to Pakistan to participate in the Champions Trophy. The mail was sent to the International Cricket Council (ICC) which formally forwarded it to the PCB on Sunday (November 10).

A spokesman for the PCB said, "The PCB has received an email from the ICC, stating that the BCCI has informed them that their team will not travel to Pakistan for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025.

"The PCB has forwarded that email to the Government of Pakistan for their advice and guidance."

Although it has only recently been officially confirmed, the BCCI's stance vis-a-vis playing in Pakistan has long been known to both the ICC and the global cricket community at large - its letter is on the expected lines. The big question now is: what comes next? Will the ICC and PCB revert to the hybrid model, holding India's matches in the UAE?

As previously reported by Cricbuzz, provisions have been considered for partial relocation of matches. However, the situation is complicated by the fact that PCB chief Mohsin Naqvi has explicitly ruled out accepting a hybrid model to the eight-nation 50-over global competition.

Has to be that because India has hosted three ICC tournaments since the events of 2008. Pakistan has participated in every event, plus a bilateral ODI series in 2013. They’re trying to engineer the Champions trophy like they engineered the WT20 this year. If allyuh afraid of spin bowling just say so

The matter is only complicated because the BCCI is in essence a BJP party group and they through their religious fanaticism have an issue with touring Pakistan, despite the fact that Pakistan has played in India for the2011 World Cup, the 2016 t20 World Cup and the World Cup last year. It’s ridiculous.

Very Simple solution.

The 2025 Champions Trophy will be held without India’s participation.

Don’t see the complication.

that simple

but remember they control the cricket

so don't be surprised if they have an opportunity to play elsewhere

Maybe their players will speak up

Hahahah just kidding

Look, a tournament without the Indians is a better tournament outright

The ICC official made a statement last week before the BJP/Shiv Sena fascist administration made this decision. The ICC official said the tournament will have India playing even if they refused to play in Pakistan.

Kay 2024-11-10 22:55:03

Maybe this is important to the ICC ....

and India owns and controls it

It simple, Pakistan has nothing to be afraid of by playing in India but it is certainly not the same for India in Pakistan, those terror groups with no impunity

The BCCI is rolling in dough so maybe they can arrange for the team to fly in on match day and leave after each match to minimize risk

Or if they reschedule IPL for February/March

there has not been a terrorist attack on a team in pakistan since 2009 and like any country that is hosting a tournament, pakistan would have had to satisfy all the criteria to host the tournament and they got this in 2021 when they were awarded the hosting rights. Pakistan has always had a problem with militancy and the indian team traveled there in 2006 for a test series, 2004 as well for a test series. i don't believe the pakistani security forces allowed any militant to harm an indian cricketer. This is india theocratic politics interfering in cricket again

Acid 2024-11-11 17:07:46

They should have a qualifier between WI and SL for India's spot

Wrong!A tournament with them getting a cutarse is much better.lol

Brerzerk 2024-11-11 17:36:07

I thought politics had no place in cricket as per The ICC. England refusing to play WI on Zim (circa 03 or thereabouts) India refusing to host Pakistan or have Pakistanis in IPL aren't politics. Tsk. tsk and SMH

That should be the case...Pakistan has played in India over the years so if India's political leadership
won't allow the team to visit Pakistan, then the other ICC,not the India Cricket Conference should
omit them...Can't see that happening though.
The International Cricket Conference is really run by India so the most likely outcome is that
Pakistan would lose hosting rights and be compensated...
Who has the Gold makes the Rules...India is more than golden and every country is dependent on
them..
Cricket should not come to this. The Politics is just too much.confused

There are rumors Pakistan won’t be in the tournament if the hosting rights are taken away and they are not accepting a hybrid model

If that's the case which other teams will line up to support Pakistan and withdraw?
