If you can't scores runs at home to Bangladesh, who will you score runs against?
I can’t stand watch Brathwaite
In reply to voiceofreason
Bro I left Trump and the US since January. Am back home looking out at the Ocean and watching the Windies. Life is good.
In reply to JamMack
You may not have to for much longer
My brother openning on the other hand……
What's this, another rendition of "Blockers' Delight"?
These batsmen will eventually get bored
In reply to mikesiva
I agree Mike. He needs runs!
In reply to Drapsey
Dude, there are 81 overs more to bowl today, not 11.
In reply to mikesiva
Don't worry he will score big
In reply to shivnotout
Who is the fifth bowler? We love play draw cricket?!
In reply to openning
Glad you're being happily entertained.
I understand test cricket.
We don't have GG, DH, or CG openings at this time, so I'm watching hoping to see these guys bat all day and set a target.
In reply to openning
Well..one down
In reply to imusic
The vigil is over. Thank goodness.
In reply to JamMack
Kraigg Brathwaite was put on this earth to drive spectators away from cricket.
Wait, no last week most on here were hailing Carty as he who would save WI cricket following one good knock.
WI batters ,this bunch especially must learn to fight in tough circumstances
and place value on their wickets even if it means looking ugly. Test cricket is
a very tough business especially when bowlers have conditions to operate
effectively.
Saw a commanding spell by Bumrah at Perth earlier today, reducing OZ to
60 odd for 7 at Perth's new venue. Number 3,Labuschagne made 2 in 52 balls
after being dropped at zero but all the OZ batters were made to look bad
by a man who is one of the best quicks in the world.
Sometimes bowlers deserve to have their day but batters must fight too
as they will not have things their way all the time.
Well, Bangladesh knows that if they keep things tight the WI batters will start to take chances
In reply to imusic

This match reiterates why test cricket is the greatest form of the game.... for pensioners and retirees.
They could take a lil nap, wake up, and still not miss any progress!
What a great dot ball dat!!
In reply to dayne
Absolutely. These batters must settle and put value on their wickets even if it
means looking ugly. It will get easier the longer they remain at the wicket.
I would be satisfied with that.
This is Tough cricket, TEST cricket, quite different from the white ball version.
In reply to VIX
Happy to be a retiree and pensioner.

In reply to Halliwell
Louis just strokes a four to long off for his 50 .Total 76/2 Louis 50 and Hodge 20 , 50 partnership too.
I LOVE that hat!!!
Another 20-something for Hodge
Run out
In reply to PM
He will soon be the present WI's test team's best test batsman
Especially if Athanaze makes that kind of shot first ball.
Stupid wicket
Agree
Why is Athanaze playing reverse sweeps?
Does he not understand that a 4th wicket at this time is not something WI needs?
Louis needs to talk to Athanaze. Another big shot that sky up to long off
Now another one dropped. Athanaze needs a slap at the back of his head
100 up
In reply to Acid
He must still be in white ball mode. SMH.
100 runs in 50 overs
Sloooooowwww
In reply to Acid
His approach seems a bit premeditated. i remember he played an innings where we attacked by sweeping the bowlers. I think he may need to assess differently instead of taking this route. Play the situation.
In reply to Yardman_83
Agreed. This is only the 2nd session. Hopefully the coaches have a chat with him during the tea break

Louis might need to put away that pull until after he has made his century...

In reply to Yardman_83
Louis with a brain freeze. it felt like he either was being starved of the strike or lost his concentration... Disappointing that after having played so patiently he would decide to play that stroke at this time...
In reply to Yardman_83
Mehidy Hasan Miraz to Mikyle Louis, out Caught by Shahadat Hossain!! The milestone played on his mind too much and has plotted his downfall here. He tried to give the charge, got too close to the ball and looked to heave it. But he got an outside edge and was an easy chance for the man at slip. Mikyle Louis wanted to bring up his ton but alas that won't happen. Gets a pat on the back as he trudges back dejected from one of the Bangladeshi players. He had 100 there for the taking. But he has thrown it away. The cross batted heave was never a good idea. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has struck gold here. Mikyle Louis c Shahadat Hossain b Mehidy Hasan Miraz 97
Hope WI don’t lose more wickets at the end of the day
If it was there to hit…
When Lara equalled Haydos record chipping down the track and launching it was genius… sometimes it comes off and you look class
Athanaze dropped on 90
Good anticipation by the fielder for the reverse sweep
more stupidity wow
In reply to Acid
Sadly, another bit of brain freeze. He lived by the cross batted shot and died by it.
In reply to velo
out Caught by Litton Das!! No hundred for Athanaze either. You live by the sword and you die by it. That preempted paddle has been beneficial to him but he falls to the same shot as well. That was well tossed up and the extra bounce on that delivery didn't help the cause of the batter. Athanaze c Litton Das b Taijul Islam 90(130) [4s-10 6s-1]
wi 228-5

In reply to Halliwell
You comparing Lara and Louis?
Athanaze out now for 90 trying scoop
In reply to Yardman_83
An inning that was an unconvincing 90
Da Silva dropped
Hard chance
In reply to velo
I went out and came back to see this..I am dealing with a toothache, and these guys
Louis and Athy just make it unbearably worse.
Feel badly for them tho as they are at the beginning of a career; young, inexperienced
and need guidance along with some tough love especially as they were given 'lives'.
Hope they learn from this. Today was their day to make their 1st Test ton.
Opportunities like these don't come too often.
In reply to hubert
The 100s will come soon, both can bat.
For a split second 221 for 3 looked like a very good score, with two batsmen in the 90's.
Sigh!
In reply to embsallie
As Nasser Hussain says, add 2 wickets to your score to get a good perspective
And bad light has meant we will be going off. And it is stumps on day 1.
WI 250/5 (84) CRR: 2.98
Stumps 250/5
Greaves 11*
Da Silva 14*
In reply to Acid
Or three if he was batting
ML sorry - that you did all the hard work.
Big up
A good first day for the home side. They finish in a decent position, especially being inserted against a good attack on the North Sound wicket. If they can muster 350 or even more, that will be a strong position going forward. West Indies should be the happier side tonight.
In reply to hubert
"I am dealing with a toothache, and these guys

Breds, take a shot of rum and it would not num the ache, it would also make U forget stupidity.
In reply to tops
Da Silva gone. Back and across the line. Technical flaws undoes him again. He must go after this series if he continues to fail.
In reply to WIForever
Alzarri out now...seven down.
WI 300 up for the loss of seven wickets....
300 up
In reply to Chrissy
Greaves gets his half century....
Well played, Justin!
VOR gwine claim that playing for the Leewards and scoring 3 tons this season primed Greaves for this half ton.
Gwaan VOR, we don't mind.
In reply to voiceofreason
I see you used another thread to stake your claim on Greaves.
As I said earlier, go ahead, we don't mind.
Well done Kemar,
You show yourself to be a faithful servant of WI cricket yet again.
400!
Tough luck Roach. Excellent ball.
What a brilliant common sense inning. I hope the top order batsmen, and coach, were looking on
Seales before Joseph...mmmmm..
Justin boy...you better get those 2 runs next opportunity ;D
TON for Justin!!
congrats son

ALLYUH see LOUIS face??
suck pon dat....
yuh dont look happy for Greaves at all
100 Greaves!!!
What a disciplined and well constructed innings of batsmanship (that’s why we use the word batsman and not “batter”)
Albeit a slow ride, let's keep the wagon going!
Mehidy Hasan Miraz to Seales, SIX runs
Yessssssssss!
Hope I didn't do a VOR on Seales.
In reply to Drapsey

Hope I'm not doing the same thing to Shamar, but I think he is the WI's and probably the world's best #11 batsman ever.
YESS! All congrats to Justin!!!
Lets hope he doesn't throw his tallent away.
Congrats young man!!!
In reply to tops
congrats to justin.
but this test gonna ed in a tame Draw
we tek too long. West Indies think that is enough as they call them in.
350 not 450
Shamar Joseph and Justin Greaves are all smiles as they walk back inside. Fantastic knock from Greaves
Whappen, Perthers don't go to cricket match anymore?
Or maybe they gone church (like Muddies).
Oops, wrong thread.
In reply to Drapsey
Nice wicket for Roachie
Thee two at the wicket are Bangla's beat and most experienced- need to break them as they can both take it deep.
143/4 trailing still by just over 300.
Were all the real fans? Live or virtual
In reply to Halliwell
You think bore and snore is joke??
It have more posts today about India and iPL than it have bout we own team playing in an ongoing test match
In reply to imusic
Well they cussin AD t10 on one hand defending chucker Bumrass on the other and not paying attention to real cricket
Bangladesh it's okay, better teams than yours struggle to make 300 against us.
Come on W.I. 200 lead.
VC, YOU NUH READ THE SCRIPT???
Brain faart
A still want a 200 lead.
DS, no runs, dropping catches. Men get drop for less.
MOM?
in all seriousness-
Our Wicket Keepers need to spend some time chasing balls to the left and to the right on the full- The Anticipation seen in Ramdin and before him as big as he was - Ridley Jacobs was superior in my opinion.
Who was it in TnT that Ramdin worked with again??
We all saw Ramdins exponential growth in improvement-
I think...we have been missing too many chances behind the stumps - This year alone has been eye opening.
Well Greaves keeping that MAN of the MATCH all for himself with that second wicket
In reply to natty_forever
Alzarri has no brain. 3 expose wickets and he is not bowling at them
In reply to Drapsey
Leh he claim he, he still can’t change the obvious.
In reply to cherri
So good to see you, cherri.
A Joseph got carried away, should have concentrated on getting them out, the batters had pretty much given up on defending their stumps.
WI 450/9 d
BAN 269/9 (9 CRR: 2.74
Day 3: Stumps - Bangladesh trail by 181 runs
I think that we all should realise that being appointed a WI vice-captain is no more than the prelude to a drop. I think that Silva needs to be rested for the second test and give Imlach a chance. We also need to bring in Warrican and prob rest Shamar. I am assuming that Roach is getting this entire series as a farewell series.
In reply to bajan261
I was talking Greaves for MOM.
In reply to Drapsey
Wuh gine on?
is braffit now specialist skipper?
SO Bangladesh has declared overnight according to cricinfo.com. Interesting move!
In reply to Yardman_83
Yes very interesting but I like it..Not often we see a decision like like it when well behind and looking defeat
in the eyes. But whatever the reason or reasons, it gives the match more talking points.
Do they really feel that they can dismiss WI cheaply and chase over 300 runs ????
Dunno but this game is full of uncertainty sometimes.
Come on Louis, play straight.
Brathwaite dropped then Ump gave Louis Not out on an LBW on a ball that would have knocked out leg stump according to Hawkeye but DRS not used
WI could have been 2 down already but instead the lead is now 200
Louis gone for 8
25/1
Loose shot did not to have to even play at that louis watching braft to much or what
Louis went for a review and lost it as well
Tasking bowled with real heart in the 1st innings and this morning he is putting in a real shift for his captain.
His deliveries have been in the areas that are giving a good examination of the batsmen.
*Taskin
Is WI's plan to set a target of 350 by Tea?
Isn't Carty our newest "savior"?
Just poor
Carty and Brathwaite goes in quick succession

luck ran out.
out Caught by Mahmudul Hasan Joy!! The batter has run out of luck. That squared the batter up. Brathwaite looked to defend and got the edge. The ball flew low to the left of the man at second slip. The fielder went to his left, dived low and took it well. Excellent catch. Bangladesh grab another. The skipper goes for 23. Windies in some trouble. Brathwaite c Mahmudul Hasan Joy b Shoriful Islam 23(35)
Bangladesh really pulled one over WI this morning by that declaration. WI players were doing warm ups on the field and then all of a sudden Brathwaite and Louis had to stop and rush back into the pavilion realizing they needed to pad up
In reply to shivnotout
You are being very kind. Viv would have made Brathwaite cry for that
Athanaze dropped - he need to calm down a bit and stop going for these kind of shots
In reply to Prako
We mentioned the same problem with him in the first innings. He has either decided that this will be his approach or there is a team strategy in place.

In reply to velo
out Bowled!! Top of off and Bangladesh are making this game interesting. What a beauty this is. Angled in on a short of length on off, pitches and leaves a hint, Justin Greaves covered the line on the defence, but the slight away movement did him in, maybe he played inside the line a fraction too much, hits the top of off and Taskin Ahmed is bowling as well as he has even done at the moment. Too good for the first innings centurion. Justin Greaves b Taskin Ahmed 2(6)
WI 100-6
Day 4: 2nd Session - West Indies lead by 282 runs
Ok, let's start blaming the head coach for our current predicament.
Come in VOR.
What is West Indies strategy? Score fast?
I think it should have been bat till tea at 3 an over?
In reply to WIForever
Bangladesh have taken 4 wickets in the last 7 overs and suddenly this game has gotten interesting. Mind you the lead for West Indies is still 305 and it won't be easy to chase them down but Bangladesh are at least fighting.
Day 4: 2nd Session - West Indies lead by 306 runs

i expect seales and roachie to come to the party
In reply to allan
Should be an easy win for WI especially if they take their catches which are sure to come.
Anything can happen and Bangladesh has made a game of this so far, giving themselves
time to get the runs...But they are not a top tier team and should not pose
big problems to the home team.
But we can never tell.
Had Shakib Al Hasan been around I would have given them a better chance.
I was saying this morning that Taskin bowled with real heart in the 1st Innings and was relentless today. He deserved the 6 wickets - total effort.
I hope Alzarri, Seals, Roach and Shamar take a page out of his book and keep that line and length.
The 1st innings made this safe for WI and probably made them complacent.
Bangla has one bullet in their gun and it was to declare overnight and throw everything. They did excellent with the resources - lets see what their batsmen do now
In reply to allan
Bangladesh is one down so far. Roach with the wicket. Bangladesh 1/1 after 1 over.
1/1 Roach strikes!
In reply to Yardman_83
Dragged back on. Dream start for West Indies. Poor one for Bangladesh. It's a short of length delivery outside off, Zakir Hasan defends away from the body, the inside-edge hits the back thigh and falls on the stumps.

This thing could be done today!
In reply to Yardman_83
Shamar Joseph to Mominul, no run
dropped by Da Silva? Yup, there was an inside edge, and although Da Silva did well tumbling to his right, the ball dropped off his gloves. It was on a short of a length on leg, and Momunil looked to tickle
Miraz dropped off Shamar.
Liton Das dropped now off Shamar
Nobody wants to take the chances off Shamar Joseph's bowling. smh. They better make sure they get it out of their system before Alzarri starts bowling.
In reply to Yardman_83
Alzarri needs to keep the same control and not let the run scoring become too easy for the Bangladeshi batters. Already 11 off his first over.
Shamar gets Das now
59/5
What's this, a 4-day match?
Shamar Joseph to Litton Das, OUT
stop the press, someone has actually held onto a catch off Shamar Joseph's bowling! This is banged in on leg stump, daring Litton to play the short-arm pull he so likes. He gets a decent piece of it too but hits it straight down Alzarri's throat at deep backward square leg. A clean catch and after being crestfallen moments earlier, Shamar roars in celebration. Half of Bangladesh's side back in the shed already!
Litton Das c AS Joseph b S Joseph 22 (18b 2x4 0x6) SR: 122.22
Finally!
Shamar strikes! FINALLY, after four drops off his bowling, somebody manages to hold onto one. Alzarri Joseph pouches the catch at deep backward square leg to dismiss Litton Das off a misqued hook. Short, fast bowling from Shamar does the trick. Bangladesh finish the 18th over of their second innings on 59/5.

These people seem to be clueless about word usage.
It means Bangladesh declared twice
Is what I seeing there?
A young pacer written off as overrated tek another 5 lucky wickets in this match??
When will this streak of luck end??
In reply to Prako
Not sure about that. If a man retires hurt, and he is the last batsman, is it treated as a declaration or is it simply that your innings has come to an end and you cannot continue. At least we now know the probable reason for that strange declaration yesterday morning.

In reply to Prako
You think the Banglas trying to outdo Captain Bedi and the Hindians on the now infamous Sabina Park Surrender?
In reply to PalsofMine
This is a good point.
Law 25.4.2
If a batsman retires because of illness, injury or any other unavoidable cause, that batsman is entitled to resume his innings. If for any reason this does not happen, that batsman is to be recorded as ‘Retired - not out’.
And this is correctly reflected in the 2nd inning score card:
Taskin Ahmed not out 4
Shoriful Islam retired not out 1
15.1 Time of declaration
The captain of the side batting may declare an innings closed, when the ball is dead, at any time during the innings. A declared innings shall be considered to be a completed innings.
The 1st inning score card was
Taskin Ahmed not out 11
Shoriful Islam not out 5
So the question is: Is there a difference on how we conclude the completion of Inning 1 and Inning 2? An inning is either completed (law 13) when 10 wickets are lost or a captain declares before 10 wickets are lost or in the case of Hansie Cronje, a captain forfeits the inning.
Per Drapsey, Bedi declared in the 3rd inning whereas Mehidy declared in the 4th inning.
