Master stroke by Bangladesh?

To declare overnight.

If they can dismiss the last 3 wickets cheaply, they’re in with a chance to win this test match. A chance that was highly unlikely at the end of the days play yesterday.

At the very least, from a pretty precarious position overnight, they’ve dragged themselves back into this test.

If there is to be a winner in this test, West Indies are still strong favourites to do it…,but credit to Bangla for coming back into consideration. They may save this match.

I think it was good bowling. West Indies would have struggled whether they declared or not

It is still a good declaration at 6pm?

Don't know what music the lead poster was listening too when he made those foolish and juvenile comments.
It was one of the most foolish declarations in a long time, the pitch stayed the same and nothing in the atmosphere or weather that could have drastically alter the pitch- as happens in England, NZ and SA.

I agree with you here 100% it was stupid declaration of epic proportions I see nothing brave or strategic in it, I see only foolishness, any time you declare there should only be 2 outcomes either you win or draw
I don't see how declaring with almost 200 runs in deficit will help you win or draw
IDIOTIC MOVE
I hope by 11.00 they are bowled out

It added to the DRAMA and some excitement

seeing Alzarri ready to bowl...to get his beak broken

...but honestly...

I was not worried one iota...we have plenty runs to defend and as I said since morning...them aint making 250...much less 300 plus...and wait...

at stumps...109/7.

You is Hot Chocolate and believe in Miracles now?

Where did I say Bangladesh would win?

Did I not post that West Indies were still firm favourites to win the match?

If there is to be a winner in this test, West Indies are still strong favourites to do it

The declaration at least allowed Bangladesh THEORETICALLY back in the game. A position that appeared hopeless for them at stumps on the 3rd day.

Their bowlers made that possible. Their batsmen were not nearly up to the task.

Don’t twist what was posted.

With rain predicted...match poised heavily against Bangladesh..... delaying the match.... would have gone a long way to save the match.....but overnight declaration..... every coach now imitates Brendan McCullum....but teams should play according to the players resources it possess.....

Suppose, in the first hour West Indies wrap up Bangladesh..... thereafter, it begins to rain.....

This happened in West Indies vs India series in early 2000....West Indies won series 2-1.....that was the last series victory for West Indies against India....

How does declaring when you are 200 behind, a masterstroke.

It was idiocy at its finest

Declaring to give yourself a theoretical chance of winning is absurd, cricket games are won purely on the premise of scoring more runs than your opponent 150 for 9 still beats 149 for 1 so taking more wickets doesn't win games either.
Declaring with 200 behind was a stupid stroke. If I recall correctly Australia tried that against West Indies and promptly lost by 8 runs in the last test between the two. had
The last pair put on those 8 runs, Carl hooper would be crying for a different reason

Exactly, serves them right, West Indies were right to embarrass them for such a stupid move, even Wisden this morning was debating the merit of such a declaration, 269/1 declared in response to 450/9 would be a stroke of brilliance even though risky, not 269/9, we have a decent bowling attack and that score says your batsmen are struggling
