Wishing him a speedy recovery

West Ham United have asked for privacy for Michail Antonio and his family after confirming that the striker was involved in a serious car accident on Saturday.

The club issued an update after images were circulated on social media of a smashed Ferrari in Essex. The vehicle had suffered extensive damage and there were unconfirmed reports that Antonio was airlifted to hospital.

A club spokesperson said: “West Ham United can confirm that Michail Antonio is in a stable condition following a road traffic accident this afternoon in the Essex area. Michail is conscious and communicating and is currently under close supervision at a central London hospital.

“At this difficult time, we kindly ask everyone to respect the privacy of Michail and his family. The club will make no further comment this evening, but will issue a further update in due course.”

A statement from Essex Fire Service said: “Crews were called to High Road, Epping, at 1.02pm this afternoon after reports of a road traffic collision involving one car. In arrival, firefighters reported that a man was trapped in his car and worked to release him by 1.45pm. The casualty was left in the care of the Ambulance Service.”

That road not easy; cars fly down that ‘speed controlled’ road between Woodford and Epping. Yesterday was wet and with high cross winds…I hope he is ok or will be ok

Very unfortunate…given his age and the alleged nature of his injuries(broken legs and femur) its very probable that it’s career ending….

I knew I heard something like this before..

The Premier League player had previously been involved in a car crash on Christmas Day back in 2019.

The footballer had crashed his £210,000 Lamborghini Huracan into a bin shed of a family home in Balham, south London while dressed as a snowman after losing control of his car.

Antonio previously opened up about the financial consequences of the crash.

'I was struggling to get insurance this year,' he said three years ago. 'No-one wanted to insure me!

Antonio expected to be out for at least one year

Michail Antonio is expected to be out for at least a year after the West Ham striker underwent an operation on a broken leg sustained in a horrific car accident on Saturday afternoon.

Antonio, who was airlifted to hospital after crashing his Ferrari in Epping, faces a long recovery after having surgery yesterday. It remains unclear if the 34-year-old’s injuries will force him to retire from football. But it is almost certain that Antonio will not play again this season and there are fears that the best-case scenario is at least a year of rehabilitation.

Another former player died on the new road in Trelawny, after Shorty, just can't remember his name, played in Isreal for some time.

Shorty, Cargill and Anglin were all victims of road accidents.
