He batsmen with such confidence. He got settled him. Then played proper shots on the ground and in the air without fear.
Kinda reminded me of Lara in the way he dominated once he got settled

Apparently Jangoo was part of the WI U19 camp. Didn’t make the cut. But according to the commentator, that was where he and Carty met

REVO? VOR to help you there. He is the CEO.

Kapil, time to catch up, you only have 10 runs on debut.

I am new to the board. Still trying to make sense of the acronyms and the language here.

In any case, very happy with the 3-0 win. The batsman showed fighting spirit and came back from behind in 1st and 3rd match to win. Also, very happy to see multiple batsman get runs. Great batting by Jangoo on his debut. Jangoo and Rutherford should be added to the test team where the batting remains super weak.

REVO: I do not remember the exact meaning,
but it to do with the Leewards/Winwards Islands players take over the scene with selection and performances fa Windies
So you will see this when Sammy or any of dem players do well.
VOR is not only a member, he is the President.
He also holds many positions, such as, PMR Officer, Discipline Officer, CEO etc.

IYSN is In Ya Skunt News.
Offer credible (So dem sey) news about happenings in CWI/Windies setup.

EIRM: East Indian Reform Movement
LPA: Lara Protecion Agency
These two seem to be a hiatus at this time.

LMAO: Laughing Ma Ass Off
LMBAO: Laughing Ma Black Ass Off

RODFLMAO: Rolling On De Floor Laughing Ma Ass Off
RODFLMBAO: Rolling On De Floor Laughing Black Ma Ass Off

With the preceding 2, you may substitute D (De) with T (The) for the more sophisticated.

I hope dis helps.

lol

Where was Jangoo first seen playing in the WI circuit? Was it not for Trinbago? Yes, it was. Based on his position, it was difficult for him to make the final 11, but he did well to pick up a contract on the franchise system.

TKR

is an indian owned franchise and jango was not ignored by TT for years. jangoo was playing for Trnidad and Tobago since he was 19. And i am sure if we didn't have this ridiculous franchise system, he would have played for TT longer than his original stint from 2016-2019. Nicholas Pooran when the first PCL came out was drafted by Leeward Islands despite playing for Trinidad since 2012. Trinidad ignored him?

Thank you Tantemerle and Powen001. That's helpful.

I am from India and live in US. I am still getting used to the slang on the board. It can be a bit hard to understand sometimes. I enjoy the banter you guys have here.

I remember the glory days of WI cricket. I stopped following cricket around 1999-2000. Just started following again last year as my daughter started playing cricket. Very happy to see the progress made by all the WI teams in last one year. Also, very excited about the emergence of new talent such as Jangoo, Rutherford, Shamar, Seals and others. The bowling is looking good. Just need to strengthen the batting a bit and WI would be in the top tier again.

And, Brathwaite should go now. He seems like a gentleman but his batting is not great. It is time for other players to be given the chance.

that was a good year to stop. 2000 was an agonizing year in WI cricket. the aussie beat down was expected, although not 5-0, but losing to england after 31 years was unexpected and very painful, especially winning the 1st test convincingly. jimmy was a good captain but he didn't have the personnel. last wi cappo to have a side with at least half of the team being the world's best players was richardson: himself, lara, ambrose, bishop, adams(who averaged over 85 after 12 tests until warne spooked him), dessie.

Thanks. Only 2004 was worse. I knew England had a very good team. But that beat down in the West Indies, that was the first time I saw the West Indies get beat up at home. Yes we had lost to Australia and South Africa by then at home but those weren’t beat downs. England outmuscled the West Indies. Yes we won the champions trophy but there was something about those 8 defeats in 2004 that was demoralizing

PalsofMine 2024-12-13 22:15:13

In reply to soloview

But to be fair, he was only moderately successful. WI were lucky in that 2024 was his breakout year in FC and Rutherford's breakout year internationally. For me, Rutherford was always that 18 year old whom I heard could hit the ball really hard and he came in for Warriors in a final against TKR and hit the ball really hard right back to Khary Pierre who took an unbelievable caught and bowled. Never rated Rutherford much after that until I saw him bat at Warner a couple years ago for Patriots when he made 80 odd and he was really good. I agree that he and Jangoo seem positioned now to play at least A team cricket if they wish to do so.
