WHAT IS CHRISTMAS?

Christmas is the observance by the Christian community of the birth of Jesus Christ. It is one of the two most important days on the Christian calendar. Over many years the religious significance of Christmas has been overtaken by commercialism.

It is not feting, dancing, alcohol consumption, cooking whole lots of foods, giving gifts but with an expectation to receive from those who you gave.

I have maintained that those who a not Christians, should not spoil this holiday by doing all off the above, allow Christians to observe their holiday.

The colonial British left us with this holiday season by incorporating Boxing Day. They did so to Christianize the society but little did they know their actions is the leading cause of how Christmas has become a drunken party with with the messages of Jesus forgotten (Jesus was not born on December 25 btw)

CAPITALISM VS JESUS?

The underlying good of giving something to those in need or of gift giving as a means of showing our love to friends and family; or appreciation to colleagues at work, has been overwhelmed by the capitalist economic culture that places more value on the buying of items than on the birth of the Christ child.

I
n a real sense, this is the opposite of what the life of Christ was in practice. After all, He went into the Temple and threw out the money changers and other such opportunistic charlatans, turning over their tables and disrupting their trade which was to profit from the misfortunes of others

In the very lands where Christ was born and lived there is a horrific example of inhumanity – the acts of genocide and apartheid by the state of Israel. Wars, death and the destruction of communities and the total disruption of the lives of millions of people continue around the world. The leaders of the western world seek as well to establish or reinforce their hegemony and global power through regime change; sanctions and other acts that do great harm to millions of people. Many of the wars are in furtherance of control of land, resources and wealth.

Apparently Biden and his backers consisting of the radical fundamentalist, white supremist, violent Evangelicals, don't see the truth in Christ.

Yeah but the rulers of modern day Bethlehem aren’t Christian so that’s moot. They literally killed Jesus! smile

Look, people will flood ANY holiday with rum and dance. It has little to do with Christmas.

Most Christians nowadays understand Jesus’ birth was in springtime but don’t really matter- keep Christmas next to Boxing Day and New Year and allow people a season of rest. Ebenezer!!!!

Boxing day started in England...

It was when the upperclass had extra food after Christmas (leftovers) and boxed it up and gave it to the poor.

Christmas is great for those who recognize it for what it's worth!

It's a very powerful symbol to people of faith. I appreciate Trump not shunning Christmas, unlike Barack Obama, Biden, et al.

So, Jesus is Palestinian after all.

Jesus was Palestinian? That really would be a miracle

After more than a year of pro-Palestinians telling Jews that their historical and biblical links to Israel were irrelevant (in an attempt to delegitimise the Jewish state) it turns out that historical and biblical links really are important, so long as they don’t involve Jews. Now Jesus is Palestinian, the theory goes, it’s completely fine to argue that “some” of those who inhabited the region 2,000 years ago do have a claim on the land after all. Placards at marches read “Jesus is Palestinian” or “Jesus, the most famous Palestinian”.

Oh Emir, this looks like justification for the seizure of Palestine. They're just reunifying the area on behalf of the Messiah.
