When a Windies bowler takes 3 wickets on a rain-ruined day 1 that bowler is deemed special and those who back him point to their always telling us that he was special.
When the ineptitude of our batting shows up we hear that the pitch is not good and the ICC must investigate. In conjunction with that, there's not much cry to discredit Warrican's 7 wickets on same pitch.
It does not matter if these batters play on the 70's Bourda pitch, against top bowling (Pakistan does have that) they will be exposed as the technically deficient lot they are.

Our hypocrisy

The mere fact that a trundler like Warrican could take 7 wickets on that pitch reinforces my point that the pitch was fixed to favor spin bowling.

Cry me a river.

Warrican took wickets against SA this season as well. He may be a lot better than you think

Point. and more to the point, he took 7 wickets against Pakistan, a team accustomed to playing spin and on their own pitch. It was a great bowling performance. Let us give him his kudos and not try to beat him down.
In reply to PalsofMine
Exactly. It can’t be that every time a spinner takes wickets from the WI, the pitches are bad. WI players in fc cricket used to struggle to get permaul off the square and he used to regularly get beat down in international cricket.

RSA has never been a great team vs Spin. Look at his performances vs India and Bangla. He is a decent spinner but no match winner as his stats in this game suggests.
Warrican
People who will decry Warrican's performance should realize that even Darren sammy once took a 7fer. Bowlers can find a sweet spot. Warrican had a great spell, end of story.

I was one of Warrican's biggest critics and labelled him as a robot.
To see him able to bowl line and length consistently was a joy to watch.

Lol Warrican always bowled a tight line and length. Same for most of our finger spinners.
What he developed (based on the little that I saw of him) is the ability to flight the ball and bowl slower... he also added a very good arm ball... it doesn't come in as much as Akeal but it does enough.

I didn’t see most of Pakistan’s 2nd innings, but the bowler that caused the Pakistani batsmen the most problems in the 1st innings was Sinclair. By some distance.
Congrats to Warrican on his 7 fee. No one can take that away from him.
I haven’t seen anything from him that causes me to change my opinion of his bowling.
In reply to openning
He always had good control just appeared a bit flat at times. He did flight the ball more to allow the pitch to work and work it did.

A snake is always a snake. It only changes its skin to become a bigger snake, advocating for posters to recognize Worrican’s performance, point well taken, while being condescending and belittling Sammy . His words, “even Sammy “
In reply to JoeGrine
Missa JG your 1st post is "WORD" While Poms were chasing quick runs it was Sammy and not any other bowler who got 7 so yes Kudus to him. For, somewhen Cornwall/Warrican combine to bowl dung Bangla at home is it because Bangla is weak or because the pain aren't trundle lrs? Oh forgot,, Cornwall is the difference.

I'm not so sure your argument has a leg to stand on.

Same so!
The pitch was the pitch. Warrican did well. Athanaze did well with the bat in the 2nd innings. Pakistan won the match. I offer to you that, had Windies won the match and especially if players from certain islands had done well in the process........nary a mention would have been made of the pitch.
In reply to JoeGrine
You have time. Look dis is a 20sinting and 30 sinting batting team. We suck.
Warrican is at the age when spinners become more thoughtful and matured and thus better bowlers. people labelled him a robot because he usually bowls consistent lines and lengths. However, an average of 30 runs per wicket is good for a bowler who is inconsistently selected for Test cricket.
In reply to dayne
30 is great for a spinner. of course murali and warne were exceptional but even the great spinners of recent past, people like saqlain mushtaq and Graeme Swann average just under 30.
Actually during a tour of either Bangladesh or Lanka after one delivery from Warrican I had to take to FB to laud its merits. Had everything. Flight, loop, drift, dip then vicious turn
