Kevlon Anderson

Has started the regional tournament in fine form, with a century against Barbados at Providence. The hundred, his third in just his 15th first class game, gives him a healthy average of nearly 42 and approaching 1,000 runs in red ball cricket. That he is scoring his runs at a decent rate (currently mid-50s), is also a nice factor to consider going forward. Whenever I have sat down to watch him bat, he has generally looked calm and composed at the crease. Personally, I will be keeping an eye on him during the season as the West Indies are patently well short of batsmen as it stands.

For now, after the first round of matches in the 2025 championship, here are his statistics as they stand:

Kevlon Anderson Age 24, Guyana, Right hand batsman

Matches - 15
Innings - 25
Not Out - 2
Runs - 962
Highest Score - 153
100s/50s - 3/2
Balls Faced - 1769
Strike Rate - 54.38
Average - 41.82

Few years ago the three former Guyana selectors, said that he wasn't good enough to make the Guyana squad.

Seeram picked his family instead... they couldn't justify the friend's and family picks that they made so the GCB was forced to sack them... well two of them, Seeram got a promotion instead.

Sarwan took over and immediately selected Kevlon, saying that he's one of the main players that they are looking to build the batting around. Couple years later and Kevlon is officially the best batsman in the setup.

Everybody in Guyana knew about Kevlon skills long before 2022 champ... even those three bias selectors.

Rarely you will find a player from Guyana that is not decent against spin.

Was told by some people who are very close to the setup that Kevlon said to them if he doesn't make the WI team by the end of this season he's done with cricket.

I think I'll mention 2 players here V.Mohan TT an opener,I saw him about a year ago against the Jamaican quicks and he looked at ease while making a 40 sumting, the next player I think will make runs is Shakere Parris filled with strokes and very aggressive,I think from Bim.

Thinking without expression....... made many love die a painful death in heart.....

Actually, I was searching for P in Archive.....but alas Anderson was in thoughts of P....

Be that as it may ..
Anderson, has bright future....if he handle his career wisely, pragmatically and express his ability in deeds rather than Thought & Thinking...

Guyana has a diamond in the ruff here. Him and Savory can make a decent batting pair for the Eagles.

Does anyone know what has happened to Keemo? Is he off playing franchise cricket. I have wanted him as my third seamer for a long time but he has virtually disappeared over the 3 years or so from red ball regional cricket. He is a guy I would love to see get a county contract. I think that with his style of bowling he would do really well in England

I have no idea where he is and what form of cricket, if any, he is currently playing but I do agree that he is the type of bowler who would do well in English conditions.

Keemo is in South Africa playing franchise cricket.

According to some he's no longer interested in FC cricket. Body breaking down too often.

If that is true....and I really hope it isn't....that's really unfortunate.

He is an excellent cricketer. We don't have an endless supply of cricketers where talent like that can be easily replaced.

Hoping for the best for him and hoping that he makes as much as he can to support himself and his family for as long as possible. It's a precarious career with an even more fickle fan base.

Keemo is no doubt very talented. So much so that he’s not just an all rounder but an express pace one, not even counting his brilliance in the field.
What went wrong in my opinion…
Lack of mentorship and how to manage his talent. When I look at him he always seemed to be on overdrive, even when he’s spraying wides. Who steps in at these critical points to help him shift focus to specific targets. Take a study of how Ben Stokes is being managed. One cannot go full gear on all skill sets all of the time.

The guy who played at the U19 WC had one fifty, it was only at the Headley Weekes tri-series that he scored his first ton, he may had scored two tons in that series.
