Faced with the herculean task of trying to avoid defeat, the Jamaica Scorpions gave themselves a chance of pushing for an unlikely victory against the Guyana Harpy Eagles, until two late wickets gave the visitors the edge in the West Indies Championship match at Sabina Park yesterday.
The Scorpions lost opener Odain McCatty for five early on, but a 132-run partnership between Kevin McKenzie, who is unbeaten on 104, and Brandon King gave the home side some hope.
They carried the score to 150 for one and looked set on carrying their bats into Saturday’s final day, but the Harpy Eagles struck twice in the final half-hour to gain the momentum.
Update:
KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Scorpions were 264-6 at lunch in search of an improbable 489 runs for victory against Guyana Harpy Eagles on Saturday’s fourth and final day of the regional first-class match at Sabina Park.
The Scorpions still trail by 225 runs with two sessions remaining and four wickets in hand.
The scores are Guyana 339 & 193-3 decl and Jamaica 44 & 264-6.
Left-hand opener Kirk McKenzie, who was on a century overnight, is unbeaten on 147.

Yes he played spin so well during this match and against some very good bowlers

If that inning is anything like the one I saw by Renford Pinnock at the Mecca, it should be treasured, the best I have seen by a Jamaican at the mecca.
That inning was against Wes, Charlie and Prof Edwards, I cannot remember if Sir Gary was part of the squad.
Every youngster that watched that inning got something from it, he had us in stitches

Why? Nonfiction is not good enough for you?

It was a really a brilliant innings by the youngster.
It was a stoke filled display, reminiscent of the great batters like Sir Viv Richards and Brian Lara with power and placement .
Really impressed and looking forward for him regaining his place in the WI team batting at the crucial No 3 position.
man not dead , dont throw him away
he is better than Carty

I saw a better one at Sabina (via TV) Pinny vs A Rothman’s WoRLD XI. Bowling attack Sit Garf. Intikab, Snow, David Brown and Fred Titmus. Pinny at his very best to spin and pace on a wicket offering something.
Hoping Mr. Hubert can remember from a cricket journalist point of view
Anderson scored a ton and 50 not out in the same conditions... he doesn't deserve some praise too?

Very happy to see Kirk Mckenzie score some runs. I like his strokeplay and positive intent. We need someone like him. He just needs to apply himself more and avoid getting out to rash strokes. Last year, he was not applying himself at all. Doing better now.
Similar problem with Athanaze going on right now. Very talented but struggling right now. Athanaze is not being clear in his head. He needs to apply himself and not give his wicket away.
Looks like CWI gats a new messiah in batting conditions.

Anderson was outstanding. Now, when comparing, don't let your agenda cause you to leave sound reasoning behind.
McKenzie faced - Sinclair, Permaul, and Motie

Lol but most on here don't consider Permaul, Sinclair and Motie as decent bowlers.
Slippy seh Mindley is a quality bowler... Smith and Shields too.

There are not enough cameras to show the entertainment part of Pinnock's batting, he had all of us schoolboys in stitches.
He could bat; it was just that his backside was an easy target for the bowlers to hit and everytime he was hit, he would jump backward to the square leg umpire, The next ball would be a classic stroke with plenty of style
