The covid 19 period was an intense period where governments were backs against the wall as they attempted to ward off an unknown disease that were killing people in droves, while at the same time being robustly opposed by conspiracy theorists who were loud in opposition to vaccines, and were significantly creating and instigating fear in the populations. All over the world, governments had to make tough decisions within that emergency, and some might have erred in the steps they took in genuine attempts to save lives. The conspiracy theorists have waged war on governments all over the world, taking them to courts for breaches of constitutions. In many, many cases, they have lost, but the costs to the states in defending g these claims are never raised. The outgoing PM yesterday mentioned the many challenges to the covid policies his government faced, and the millions of dollars spent in defending them. Some government, like in the case of St. Vincent, may have erred reading the law, and the courts have ruled. But, was Gonzales not trying to save lives like many other places in the world? I, personally, know of several cases where workers lost years of earnings, and destitute, just because they listened to the conspiracy theorists. In some cases, they were forced to repay every cent that they received and spent, while believing the conspiracy theorists, and waiting for court rulings, which were lost. So, Ralph may have erred in reading the law, and maybe overreacted from frustrations from the resistance faced at the time of covid. That does not make his stance in support of Cuba not noble. Many of our health systems in the Islands have survived because of Cuba's assistance. Let us not mix the two events, and i salute those leaders who have come out in support of Cuba and their nations' health, over a US visa.
