Deliver or Delivery?

So we moved from Batsmen to Batter and now from delivery to deliver.

Now if I hear it once that was a mistake but twice within a few minutes...well that is not a mistake.

The move from batsman to batter is about gender equality.

I do not support women's cricket, so I'm biased.

Why not bats-woman,
why should men have to accommodate.

Furthermore, if a men's game is being played, what's wrong with batsman?

I agree and don't know why they can't use the word "Batswoman"

Part of developing an innings is "Batsmanship" - the word "battership" cannot be used as a replacement hence I don't (and dislike) the word batter (sounds like something for making cake).

But what about moving from delivery to deliver?

I'm sure that was a mistake.

Or just dialect.

It's called gender neutral.

There is no sure way of knowing these days who is a man or woman in any sport, hence the term. People are born one way but identify otherwise ...

Why "battership" cannot be used when language is something that evolves? What if who you call "batswoman" tells you she's a bats-lady" or because she's bisexual or lesbian doesn't want to be referred to by neither of the above. Ghosts of Victorian women must be happy you weren't around then. Change like, flood, tire, wind will if you don't step aside or go with it just sweep you out of the way.

Well we already have BOWLER....not bowlsman

So batter is being consistent.

And what is your problem with women's cricket ?

Yuh think women dont have balls to play hard ball cricket ??? guess what dem wear a box when dem batbig grin

Batter is also most appropriate to under 18 youth players

I am giving the reason for the change in noun.

I am not in agreement with the change, but that is the reason.

I am a man and I love women, just not on a cricket field. lol

I do not see men playing netball.

Women's cricket is ok, just not my deal.

No issue, as I do not have a say.
Plus the horse gone out the barn long time.

I expect to hear cries for women to be paid the same as men soon.

I loved the simple world where boys and men were because of gender at birth.
I love the days when LBGT etc had to hide in the closet,
because their acts are unnatural and a SIN.

Women tennis player cried out for equal pay,
yet men play 3 best of 5 sets while women play 2 best of 3.
Equal pay should mean equal work, no?

Women cried out for equal rights, yet they lack physical strength to complete with me (generally).
I'm a Christian.
I believe that there are gender specific roles.
Today's societal changes are sickening.

In a men's cricket game, the term should always be BATSMAN.
Feel free to use batter or batswoman in women's games.

I am just sick sick and tired of all these forced changes.
And we wonder why societies breaking dow.
The premier reason is Men not being men.
Allowing women to lead.
Breaking down of gender roles etc.

1 Timothy 2: 12 12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

Feel free to read the entire chanter, which is a short one.
Too many women leading men and acting out of emotions.

Who are really behind such decisions as changing to batter? Think!

Funny how there is never a clamour to change the word Binman.
