Is this is the same as Portugal or King orange variety from Trinidad?
In reply to Emir
No
Origin:
The Ortanique is a natural hybrid of a sweet orange and a tangerine, first produced in 1920 in Jamaica.
Name:
The name "Ortanique" is a combination of "or" (for orange), "tan" (for tangerine), and "ique" (for unique).
Appearance:
Ortanique fruits are small to medium in size, round to oval in shape, with a pebbled, dark orange rind.
Taste:
Ortanique fruits are known for their sweet and tangy flavor, with a good balance of acidity.
Other names:
Ortanique is also known as "Mandor" in Cyprus, "Topaz" in Israel, "Tambor" in South Africa, and "Urunique" in Uruguay.

Hard to find fi true but peeps I know have dem own trees
I’ve also seen dem a few times this season in Papine market, HiLo Liguanea and Brooklyn in Twin Gates.
What scares me is how many Jamaicans do not know this fruit.
There’s an independent 2 store Berkeley supermarket that specializes in quality fresh produce from around the world. See it there sometimes but not less than $6/lb. Yellow Yam $5+
In reply to Brerzerk
Expensive
In reply to Chrissy
Indeed…economy of scale ‘cause Jackfruit from Thailand/Mexico is $1:29/lb Dasheen from China $1, Mango from South America even $5/box sometimes

My father once took me to an orange grove in a place called Woodland a few miles out of San Fernando and I was surprised to see all the different types of oranges and Satsumas, the colours were so beautiful and talk about taste, you know wot I mean.I can just imagine this one that you all talk about.

Reminds me of my first trip to a citrus orchard close to a river here in JA - was a beautiful view and quite a feast.
