Jamaica is on the list.

No way these countries have a trade deficit with USA so what exactly is Trump saying?

Pay a luxury just to have export access to the US market?

No! I think it’s the opposite, Trump wants them to import more US goods (with less tariffs) and export tariffs will be removed or lowered.

Am getting so tired of your biased, nonsensical, hypocritical post filled with inaccuracies and misrepresentation while accusing others if such behavior.

Israel: 17% (charges U.S. 33%)

Turkey: 10% (charges U.S. 10%)

United Arab Emirates: 10% (charges U.S. 10%)

Saudi Arabia: 10% (charges U.S. 10%)

Oman: 10% (charges U.S. 10%)

Bahrain: 10% (charges U.S. 10%)

Qatar: 10% (charges U.S. 10%)

I can go on and on....

Say what you want, I see a pattern there.....which is why the word reciprocal is used.

No tariffs on Israel?

How about the fat that these large exporters get the same tariffs as little Dominica who trades insignificant amounts to the US but whose people buy from the US and ship there like water?

I'll defend Emir here.

The original available info (see velo's link) didn't include any reference to Israel, neither Jamaica.

The link I provided later contains the full list of 'affected' countries.

what is the point of tariff on a nation you have a permanent trade surplus with isn't this action forcing the country to reduce imports?

13 When anyone replies to a matter before he hears the facts, It is foolish and humiliating.

Were you not aware ot was a preliminary list?

I saw the initial release as well....it was even fewer than velo's link....yet it was obvious that this was being done in real time and more information was forthcoming.

But some people just rush to use info to justify their biases.

Where is he since to edit or retract that?

Yeah....and your defencegives him cover to let that lie sit there!

Not because the question is asked it does not mean that one does not know the answer. As a matter of fact if you look at Nick response carefully you can easily draw the conclusion he knows what's up.

Man. I do not have all the answers. Tis is not equitable and we all know there is some prejudices involved.

But the trade landscape changed with the internet.

I remember when the rush to leave the US was in full swing by manufacturers.

Everyone was crying about policies that forced these corporations to find labor elsewhere.....but no one was willing to take it on.....it needed it.

Now they are. Countries need to tighten their belt.
Nike is one of the companies that has lost money in their stock already....how long have they been paying workers peanuts for items they sell at premium prices to Westerners?

Come on....dislike the sitting president for lots of things....but tariffs? Meh....not sure this is the answer, but I doubt this will sink the economy.

America has been gutted because other Countries are allowed to ship here and we are not allowed to ship there.

Many don't realize that much of the issue is not the tariff, but the Countries are able to keep the shipping extremely high vs the other way....that makes it difficult on US based companies.

Nothing man does works flawlessly.

But can anyone tell me why a country can charge 100% tariff on US imports while shipping their goods to the US freely?

How is that fair?

Tariffs on Russia are inconsequential. Russia is the most sanctioned country in history still its war economy is booming. Trump maybe a Putin groupie however Putin would laugh in his face again on tariffs. Germany, Japan, USA the economic big stagers failed to slow down the Kremlin with thousands of sanctions. Once China and India keep up their spending spree for Russia's inexhaustible resources a Trump tariff is as effective as his 40 felon convictions. lol
