is the closest neighbour to Trinidad and Tobago. In fact, the parang music that Trinidad boast of so much, is the result of Venezuelan influence. The two countries are like Siamese twins, and some of the gas fields that Trinidad were making deals to exploit are actually shared by both countries. That means that parts of the same fields are in both countries. Now, if a country has tp seek permission and get a license to exploit resources in its own field, who is to blame? A governmet cannot be blamed for trying to make deals with its neighbour. The one to be blamed is the outsider who flies from hundreds of miles away and dictates that you can't extract your own oil and gas. Any government in Trinidad and Tobago would be foolish not to engage Venezuela, who sits on the world's largest oil reserves, especially when their own oil is depleted to the extent that they are unable to keep their refinery running economically. And, to celebrate and to claim this "I told you so" victory, is a demonstration of how ignorant people can be. If the Drago deal was allowed, all of Trinidad and Tobago benefits. It fails, and all of Trinidad and Tobago should be sad. But, then again, are they concerned about TT's welfare or something else.
By the same token, no outsider is supposed to try to dictate our relations with a Caribbean{West Indian neighbour, Cuba. It is the intruder from outside that is wrong, to try to dictate that we refuse our Cuban doctors. When we train ours, you snatch them away from us. before a doctor or nurse is trained, they are pulled to the USA, Canada, UK. Thanks to our neighbour, Cuba, that allowed us to stay afloat with their supply of doctors, and you want to take away that too. And, the sad thing about it is some of the same set of ani- dragon deal people are celebrating too.
The Caribbean must remain a zone of peace, and I fully support Guyana against any threat to its sovereignty. We have to act above cheap politics. In this age of social media, the gutter things that we like to spread are dangerous, and can destroy what we are so keen to inherit. We have to temper our desperation for power because what you may assist in creating, may be a turmoil and disarray that no one would be able to manage, no matter who wins. Tim tim brasheh, the story end and the wire bend.
