Carty is very good

Definitely has Test Cricket pedigree.

What does it mean that a batsman of his pedigree, style and success comes from St. Maarten, and not from any of the big regional cricketing islands (BIM, T&T, JAM, GUY)?
What allowed him to develop in the way that others have not, albeit the revelations of Matthew Forde, Jayden Seales, Greaves, etc.?

Sample size is a helluva ting

He is confident, not reckless or a survivor.
Athanaze started as a classic; his speech and recklessness when batting became dangerous to me.
A batsman should be watching the ball and not moving down the wicket before the bowler delivers the ball.
As fans, we look at the players, never the coaches.

St. Maarten's cricketing culture came from the islands when Dominicans, Trinidadians, Kittitians etc moved there to reside. They also benefit from being very close to Anguilla where a lot of their players would travel by ferry there to play cricket. There was a youth name Sherwin Peters ( Trinidad roots) who was pretty good batsman and you also have Jacob Doram the big left arm spinner who was selected to play for the Netherlands at the T20 world Cup. The Stanford T20 that focused on island by island helped to highlight some of the talents from the island.
Nothing like a passionate dad.
Carty is an Anguillan name, so KC probably has Anguillan roots and Anguilla had a strong cricket culture even though it remains a British Overseas Territory, unlike BVI, Caymans, TCI.
Reminds me of Kyle Mayers!
Carty is the Boss of the highly rated Ireland

Yes indeed and we are all very proud of him. Right???
Carty can bat; his style is very much like how we used to bat, which suggests he has not been coached by any modern coaches.
Lets see him against England!

Ireland is better than the regional teams

Will that stop your negativity or will you find another reason to be negative, e.g. that England is in a state of transition or that the weather was warm and that was the only reason he could make runs or that Jofra Archer was not able to play and so that is the only reason he could score etc etc etc? Just asking for a friend.

All I am saying he must perform against a side that is not ranked 12th
Those Irish bowlers cannot compare with the English ones else they would be playing for England.
I will withhold my judgement until then!

The man averages almost 50 in ODIs, surely that can’t be a fluke?
In reply to brians_da_best
Depends on which teams he has scored these runs
There are lies, damn lies, and statistics
Lets see how he does against England
Please, let's make hast"e slowly" This is more about CWI than Carty. That 1/2 ton in U19 WC showed clear potential. What was CWI's plan from U19, academy, through the ranks to senior team for a guy from a place with less cricket? He's made it by his own effort. But from CWI perspective by sheer chance. Now, let's see if he's got the goods to handle top quality bowling and no fielding restrictions without saddling him with 'readiness' pressure.

Carty averages 71 vs England in 6 Innings including a century. Yes its a small sample size but its proof of his potential.
