Bad selection or not good enough

As an avid WI supporter now living and working in Holland, I would like an honest opinion on whether
a) we just do not have the talent as before or
b) bad selection or
c) combination of both

This series against a very average Aussie team is depressing me

I would say bad selection and the thing that people very often forget is that cricket is a team sport.
It is interesting in that the bowling unit appear to have a very strong bond between them and supportive of each other .
On the other hand the batting line up is just a mish mash of journeymen.
Ie the top 4 run scorers from the last tour of Oz when we drew the series were all dropped for this series.
Make sense of that.

Had to show why they drop the coach.

My 2 cents, we do not possess the skil set to play high quality fast bowling. We may also be a bit scared.

I would say C, a combination of both. Bad selection of players for certain positions, for example the recall of Chase as captain, Hope as Keeper, Warrican as VC, the openers, and Anderson not ready. On the whole, whomever is selected, we just aren't as good as we are before. Kraigg has the highest test average of the current lot. Next best is Tage, then Blackwood, then Holder. The top 7 batsmen should be averaging 30+. In the most recent test XI, not a single batsman averaged over 26.

I totally agree with you, neither Chase or Hope should be there based on the criteria for selection.
I am wondering what did Josh Da Silva, Imlach and the others that worked hard are feeling. This feels like a Dictatorship, where this one individual has all this power.

C.

The away victories against Australia and Pakistan were down yo performances by Shamar, Motie & Warrican.

The batting has been poor for some time and nothing has been done about it.

They have done something about it but it did not work. They picked Hope, Chase, King and Anderson

Don't fully agree, the victory against Oz was set up by a gritty hard fought middle order partnership by Hodge and Josh.
This is what we were missing this time, all about fight and determination however we dropped the exact players that have the mental capacity to do it.

Justice for Josh

He won us matches already

Why was he not given a chance in the A Team games?

He did enough in the Regionals!

Guys, cricket is a professional sport; you treat it as such.

A player should show improvements every year or show fans some improvement every outing.
We will then know they are working.
If it takes you 5000 balls or 6 hours a day for 35 weeks to correct a flaw, work on it.

Clearly Sammy has some issues with him, not picked for the trials as Sammy was fearful he would have a great series.
Remember Josh captained the A team on their previous clash against SA in South Africa and were very competitive.
Think Josh has too big a voice in the team so he sees him as a threat.
