20/20 cricket will kill west indies cricket he said 20/20 cricket is not going to improve west indies cricket and now we see what he was saying is the truth . Plenty respect to Holding for distancing himself for 20/20 cricket .

WI batsmen been struggling since 1995, long before T20 came about. Has T20 killed India, England & Australia test cricket?

When India, England and Australia play Test cricket, those players are recalled from whatever 20 over league they are playing in to represent their Nation. That is not the case for WI.

Also the India/England/Australia Test Cricketers are firstly red ball players who then go on to play white ball.

Thanks for your take. Not only that but in all other countries, a foundation is built on red ball cricket
for all players.Proper coaching and adherence to quality in technique and 'game sense' are developed
at the domestic level .
In addition far more FC cricket is played in those countries...I know of none..that give FC status to their
academy. And players are also grounded in white ball variety too which makes for easier transition to
to top class competition and international games .
WI under 19 and Leeward and Windwards tournaments were usually over 3 days and very competitive
then too. The product has been downgraded throughout the region at the age group level as well with lack
of solid coaching.
Years ago I advocated that there should have been a 2nd Tier of under -23 to arrest the wavering talent
that departs from the Under 19 level.
The first cause is to recovery is to build back a foundation at age group level as the once vaunted and valuable
Club system has decayed and in case of Jamaica, barely exists .
Far too often we see WI players playing Tests and their FC career pales in number of Games played in
comparison to their contemporaries the Pakistanis,Sri Lankans and not to mention OZ, ,Kiwis, the British, Saffies and top of the tree
India.

There is common saying in Jamaica,'Tek sleep mark death'.
What is happening now in the Under19 competition is cause for Panic. USA's no.1 team has disposed of Jamaica and defending champions
Barbados and I think they also gave T&T, fits.
Work is being done at age group level to build the USA cricket. Once they get their administration compliant and solid with the ICC,
they could be the next TEST country. And while the stooges at the top of WI Board are mooting Hemisphere contacts in the Americas, it could be
that they will be answerable soon and subjective to the New bosses ,USA in short order.
The messaqe: Look at yourself first, fix your problems because they are many and well rooted.

Legends such as Lara, Viv and others cannot fix your cricket problems as they currently exist from top to bottom.

If the Board does not know what the real problems are, then there is no hope. But everyone knows the Board knows
and that is the real tragedy that has the cricket in 'nowhere' land.
I am not optimistic of good progress as needed introspection and changes will not be forthcoming.

The CRICKET NEEDS to be BUILT SOLIDLY from the Ground Floor, not the PENTHOUSE.

About of talkers for sure

Like if players wake up and on day one it’s a choice red v white ball

Utter nonsense

And what ‘red ball’ is it? 5 dung heap games a year to prepare for 12 Test matches the next year???

And everybody like to say England and Oz players get call back…they get paid, and contracted handsomely.

Somebody even say ‘the Indian players get called back from whatever t20 tournament they playing overseas’

Lord come fass

Excuses all the time, truthful excuses, lying excuses, all types of excuses, but we need to do the right thing, get the head (CWI) right first, there's a saying if the head bad, the whole body going be affected, when in the pass we had the Board picking teams and giving to selectors, we had coaches who were chosen but not allowed to do the job, coaches telling players there was nothing special about them, members of the board making promises like it was the thing to do to get elected, A Board who allow players to strut all over the place to play for whoever had money (so that the Board could get a cut) and not securing a commitment from these players to put west indies first, other cricketing nations have no problem allowing their players to play in the tournaments, but watch those players high tail it out once National duty calls.

We bout the place talking a big talk but still struggling to creep, these youngsters were bound to get exposed in the right conditions, sad it had to be in the Caribbean, now that the guts buss people calling in past players, to do what.......what is Lara, Lloyd and others to do, when these people had opinions they were ignored, these past players are responding out of hurt , Last year in Australia these same players were responding out of a glimmer of hope and a bellyful of pride because the west did something that was not done for years, this year the west Indies also did something that was not done for years.........I hope that the powers that be really put west indies cricket first and stop trying to one-up who they replaced..

I would like to say that this thing can still be fixed, but we need the right people at the top, they are out there, we only have to get them to come forward, the approach has to be right in order to convince them, but then again when you ignore people in order to fulfill your election promises, it may be tough to back up and eat some crow, but if these people are really interested in west indies cricket FOR REAL, it time to make some calls, I personally know about two people that ready to answer the call........just my opinion...

All said done.... India, Australia & England....big money...
Then how New Zealand & South Africa excel.... with limited resources....
How players from West Indies... Jordan,Bethell,Jofra et al flourish.....if our cupboard empty...we talk about grass root....when our under 17/19....go to another country and flourish...one Lendle ,one Reifer....

It's less to do with players or resources and more about implementation of proper programme..... transparency in administrative appointments....will on the part of administration to excel on field and not only hang on to power by hook or crook.... appointments to satisfy different boards.... to get their votes....
