Shai Hope:
Would have batted first. We've got three spinners today. Evin Lewis is injured, so Roston Chase comes in.. What he has done for West Indies cricket has been great, we want to send him off on a great note. Would love to give him a great send off.
Mitch Marsh:
We'll be bowling first. It's a small ground, will be better chasing. Debut for Mitch Owen today.

Pitch Report:
There are runs on offer. 175+ scores in all the last 6 T20Is on this surface. The surface looks dry with good consistent bounce. There is good carry and you can expect some spin later in the game. Overall, looks like a great batting wicket.

Yes it is, things just keep getring worse. The only way for the West Indies to improve is for it to be run like a club. Time to bring in players from overseas with Caribbean roots. Our cricket is broken and needs fixing. Like it or not, unless you are a diehard West Indian fan, people will continue to lose interest.

Mitch Owen | Player of the Match: (on debut)
Happy to have the win, nice to contribute. Nice to join those great names (of David Warner and Ricky Ponting - players who got 50s on T20I debut). (ion his batting) For me, it was about trying to play positively and put the pressure back on the bowlers. Great to bat with Greeny, kept me nice and calm. First time batting with him. (On batting in the middle order) Not too much changed, I wanted to go out and hit a six first, swing hard and work it from there.

Mitch Marsh | Australian skipper:
Really good performance to enter the series. They started well with the bat, but the last 5 overs was outstanding. I think all the boys did well with their plans and they showed that they played a lot of T20 cricket. Any time you got a young kid that comes in and performs like that, it is always exciting. Hopefully we can keep doing that for us. Bowling performance at the back end of the innings and we kept our intent despite losing wickets, that was good to see.

2025-07-21 04:01:24
Shai Hope | West Indies skipper:
Didn't go as plan, but I must take the positives from it. With that power we possess in the middle and lower middle order, we got ourselves to blame in the batting department. The guys have gone a bit too hard and maybe we thought we need too much runs at that stage. We can't really falter like that on too many occasions and need to turn it around quickly. They are very strong strikers of the ball and we need to put more pressure and execute well as bowlers.
