The road to the 2026 FIFA World Cup resumes in CONCACAF

Final Round Groups

Group A: El Salvador, Guatemala, Panama, Suriname
Group B: Bermuda, Curaçao, Jamaica, Trinidad & Tobago (all Caribbean affair which guarantees at least one Caribbean team at the 2026 World Cup)
Group C: Costa Rica, Haiti, Honduras, Nicaragua

Of Note:
Winners of each group qualify directly for the World Cup.
The three 2nd placed teams will be ranked, with a possible play-off spot available.
Jamaica, Costa Rica, Panama, Honduras, and Curaçao all advanced with perfect records. Suriname topped Group F with 10 points, edging El Salvador and Puerto Rico. Apart from the ‘Caribbean Group’ other Caribbean hopefuls are Suriname & Haiti.

Can Jamaica or Trinidad finally return to the World Cup after 1998 & 2006 respectively? Or will the heavily Netherlands flavored Curacao and Suriname qualify for their first World Cup? Are Costa Rica & Panama still hot favorites or will Guatemala & Honduras surprised after having good a Gold Cup tournament?

I have Curacao as the favorites to win Group B. I think Panama & Costa Rica will win their respective groups.

We lucky to be at this stage of the competition.

Luckier still that the finals have been expanded to 48 teams and the 3 teams that likely would have qualified for the finals from CONCACAF, automatically qualified as hosts.

I read the Socawarriors MB and quite a few feel that DY is out of place as TTs coach, some comments makes you wonder if they are right about him.I personally think he is leaving players out you expected to see on the squad at least.I don't think we'll get far.He Yorke says and makes comments and does exactly the opposite,TTshould have got an experienced coach from Europe.

Leave Yorke right dey…
If Caribbean people say McLaren is not good enough for them, only Ancellotti or Pep will be ‘good enough’

And…if Dwight is on a coaching journey and can’t even keep his TT job, what chance does he have in the European leagues with all the other black coaches…then we can’t even criticise ‘the system’ that doesn’t give them chance

At this stage, I don't see Jamaica making it to the WC.
Everyone better watch out for Curaçao.
I also believe T&T will be well prepared as Yorke will grow
in his role, considering his background and experience and
will surprise many as he grows in his coaching role.

The issue is not Yorke......although I don't think he's up to the task.

Our showings at the Gold Cup are enough to demonstrate that. The team is severely disorganized, has no shape, does not support the player in possession with options, and have little to no clue about playing off the ball. All of that is COACHING...or more appropriately lack thereof.

But even with all that, the REAL issue is two fold.....one stemming from the other. A complete lack of player development, which leads to a dearth in talent. We simply don't have the players to perform effectively at this level.

We'll compete with and sometimes beat the Cuba's, SVG's, Barbados' etc in the region. But as was exposed when we played at the Gold Cup, we're severely lacking otherwise.

Our best player from a technical standpoint is 35 years old. He can hardly last a half at full efficiency. Not his fault....age is age. Levi Garcia can be troublesome on his day and both Tyrese Spicer and Dante Sealey up front are promising. That's about it.

I didn't really want to sound as if I'm putting Yorke down but I have to agree with some comments by some very experienced Board Members,I'll say this ,I want you to be right.

Bermuda was poor and gun shy unsurprisingly in pink uniforms. Defense was a clown showlol
Jamaica stronger all over the park. Easy goals for JA with Bermuda clueless about marking.

Expect Curacao to be stronger at home.
Unless T&T add their own UB40 reinforcements they will struggle against JA, Curacao and Bermuda.

Any reason why Warner Brown didn’t get a game? I thought he was decent in his role. Active and looking for the goal. I was surprised he didn’t start particularly with so much missing players. Also no Demari gray . Is this a result of the cavalier guy Speid?

Yeah, I was surprised Warner Brown did not start actually. Maybe he is carrying a slight injury, think I heard that on one of those YouTube shows.

Gray was injured in his last game before the break. There are 7 to 8 starters out for Jamaica.

Using heritage players developed in top leagues globally is making a huge difference for many countries, even those with good domestic leagues. Morocco, Senegal, Algeria, Cameroon, USA, Scotland, Wales etc all using it to great effect.

Trinidad needs to amend their 'Granny rule' to tap into this and apparently they are about to:

Granny rule to boost World Cup hopes

You can track heritage players who switched nationality AFTER playing for other countries here for 2025 YTD.

I heard so much talk about Curacao with all their players born and bred on Dutch football, well,TBH TT threw away a golden chance to start with a win,TT looked better but were just too tame. There is always a bad match for teams and that was TTs last night.
