Trump sends stealth jets as Caribbean tensions rise

The United States has ordered the deployment of strike jets to a Puerto Rico airfield as part of intensified operations against drug cartels in the southern Caribbean, sources say. The move adds significant firepower to an already robust US military presence in the region and has heightened tensions with Venezuela.

The deployment follows a deadly US missile strike on Tuesday targeting a boat in the Caribbean Sea. The Trump administration said the vessel was carrying 11 Venezuelan drug traffickers. Secretary of State Marco Rubio warned Wednesday that such attacks “will happen again.”

On Thursday, the US accused Venezuela of making a “highly provocative move” by buzzing one of its warships in international waters.According to Reuters, citing two sources familiar with the matter, the strike aircraft, including F-35 stealth fighters, are expected to arrive in Puerto Rico next week. These jets are part of a sustained military campaign in the Latin American region that began with Tuesday’s airstrike. The F-35 is considered highly effective against Venezuela’s air force, which operates F-16 aircraft.

Just like renaming the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America, next thing we know, he'll be renaming the Caribbean.

I'll bet on Columbus Way as the new name. That will erase any history that the Caribs ever inhabited the region.

Frighten Friday's bout here gleefully grab on to every word those liars spout because the murdered are alleged drug traffickers. Do not forget that when caught red-handed for sending back Kilmar Abrego to El Salvador he was
a. Suddenly a member of Tren de whatever
b. Photshopped with the gang's tattoos
C. Wasn't able to be returned because he was under Salvadorean jurisdiction
d.A human trafficker which would be proven in court.
e. Fearful they couldn't win a court case they tried to (under duress) entice him to accept deportation to Costa Rico
f.Tried like Nicodemus smuggle him to Uganda.
So, you all so sure that boat had drugs??

.El Pitazo states that its sources indicated that the vessel was a speed boat, 12 meters long by 2.5 meters wide, with four 200-horsepower engines. It states that sources claimed two other boats, loaded with drugs left the island and passed along the same route without being intercepted

Stop the Hand-Wringing Over the US Navy

Every time a U.S. ship shows up in the Caribbean, the outrage machine revs up. Suddenly it’s all about “sovereignty” and “imperialism,” as if the Navy just dropped anchor inside Port of Spain’s harbour. Let’s be honest: this is theatre. The U.S. has patrolled these waters for decades under SOUTHCOM. Nothing new here.

The difference this time is Venezuela. With Maduro threatening Guyana, what looks like routine counter-narcotics patrols now doubles as a warning shot. That makes some leaders nervous, they don’t want the Caribbean seen as Washington’s chessboard. Fair. But let’s not pretend the region hasn’t relied on U.S. interdiction to keep cartels from flooding islands with drugs and guns. Without that presence, the Caribbean is wide open.

Trinidad and Tobago’s prime minister gets it. She’s made clear that if Maduro lunges at Guyana, U.S. forces can operate from T&T bases. That’s not servitude; that’s survival. Narco-trafficking has already hollowed out communities. Venezuela’s sabre-rattling only raises the stakes.

The uncomfortable truth is this: Caribbean governments crave U.S. security help but grandstand when the optics look bad. They want the drugs stopped, but not the Navy ships. They want protection from Venezuela but also to preen about independence. It doesn’t work that way.

So enough with the hand-wringing. Either accept the U.S. presence as the price of stability, or tell the cartels and Maduro you’ll handle things yourself.
And everyone knows CARICOM can’t.

You are truly AN IDIOT. We have the US launching an ILLEGAL military strike in international waters in the Caribbean MURDERING ELEVEN ppl THEY allege are drug traffickers but any evidence to that effect was blown up with the boat. Patrolling is one thing-THIS IS SOMETHING TOTALLY DIFFERENT. And YES it is CONCERNING because what stops them from doing it to ANY govt who fails to fall in line? We going back to those days in the region? Except now it is OVERT? Damned JACKASS

Trump deploys 10 F-35 fighter jets to region

Tensions continue to mount in the Caribbean Sea, after two Venezuelan F-16 fighter jets flew near the USS Jason Dunham in international waters Thursday, an action the Pentagon described as “highly provocative.”
The Dunham, an Aegis guided-missile destroyer, is part of a US naval flotilla deployed to the region to target drug cartels and narco-terrorist networks. Washington accused Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro’s administration of attempting to obstruct its operations and said any threats to US vessels would be met with decisive action.President Donald Trump announced the deployment of ten F-35 fighter jets to Puerto Rico to strengthen US forces in the region. Speaking yesterday, Trump described recent interdictions and warned traffickers using what he called the Caribbean “runway to the United States” that they would “be in trouble.”
Trump said he authorised captains to respond if Venezuelan aircraft endangered American ships.

“I don’t know if you saw, Trinidad, a country that has suffered greatly from all these drugs coming out of Venezuela. They were congratulating us for it,” Rubio told reporters.“They thought it was a great thing because they’ve suffered from it. So, we’re going to continue to hunt for like we always have, but this time we’re not just going to hunt for drug dealers or the little fast boats and say, ‘Let’s try to arrest them’. No, the president has said he wants to wage war on these groups because they’ve been waging war on us for 30 years and no one has responded.”

However, CELAC, the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States, issued a joint statement condemning the presence of extra-regional military forces.Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, Belize, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Dominica, Grenada, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Suriname, Uruguay, and Venezuela reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining the region as a “zone of peace.”T&T was part of the meeting but was not mentioned because this country voted against the statement in conjunction with Peru and Argentina.
The group committed to keeping the Caribbean and Latin America a “zone of peace,” citing the Treaty of Tlatelolco, which bans nuclear weapons in the region. CELAC leaders urged diplomacy, respect for sovereignty, and cooperation through international law instead of confrontation, warning that an arms build-up could destabilise the region.

US-Russian spat over bombers landing in Venezuela

Russian and US officials have been involved in a spat over the landing in Venezuela of two Russian bombers capable of carrying nuclear weapons. The two Tu-160 bombers landed in Venezuela on Monday in a Russian show of support for the government of socialist President Nicolás Maduro. The long-range strategic bombers landed at Simón Bolívar airport outside of the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, on Monday along with two other Russian planes.

Venezuela and Russia have long been close allies, and the Russian bombers - as well as a missile cruiser - were sent to the Latin American country in 2008.
The supersonic bombers also visited Venezuela in 2013.

US veteran: Crew in US lethal strike ignored warnings in 3 languages

A veteran of the US Armed Forces has said the crew allegedly killed by US military troops at sea off Venezuela received warnings in three languages (Spanish, English and Portuguese) to stop.
However, Luis Quiñonez added they ignored the warnings which led to the deaths of 11, whom the US government said were members of the Venezuela-based Tren de Aragua gang. He said the crew even tried to hit the military helicopter that was telling them to surrender.

Quiñonez shared details of the operation during the programme Por La Mañana on TVV Noticias on September 4, as reported by another media outlet, El Pitazo, on September 5.The report quoted Quiñonez as saying, "Yes, they were both given the chance, the helicopter flew over them, put the light in front of them."Apart from drugs, he claimed the crew was also carrying weapons.According to sources, the boat left Sucre State on August 31 and was bound for Trinidad. The boat allegedly carried 11 men, eight of whom were residents of San Juan de Unare. It cited journalist and researcher Ronna Risquez as saying that the San Juan de Unare area is associated with drug trafficking.

In a similar report by Luis Francisco Orozco from the US-based media outlet Voz on September 4, Quiñonez revealed intercepted communication in which crew members allegedly said the US "would not have the guts to use force against them.Reports indicated that two Venezuelan military aircraft flew near a US warship in the Southern Caribbean in what the Pentagon referred to as a "highly provocative move."
