Big Up: Antigua, Barbados, Guyana, St. Lucia and Bahamas

Just saw the list of countries around the world that boycotted Netanyahu’s speech at the UN, I could not find Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago on that list.
However kudos to my Caribbean PM Mya and the Barbadian delegation for a job well done in representing the Palestinians. Also to the delegations from Antigua and Barbuda; Guyana; Bahamas and so proud of little St. Lucia.

@Chrissy

I haven’t seen Vincy on the list but I am sure Ralph’s delegation would join the boycott.

Little St Lucia?

You seem very unaware of socio-economic and geographic statuses within the region?

Here my cuz government trying to justify why they didn’t walkout, shameful for Jamaicans:

“FOREIGN Affairs Minister Senator Kamina Johnson Smith has again rejected claims that Jamaica has been silent on the war in Gaza, insisting the country recognised Palestine last year and has consistently supported calls for peace.

Speaking at a post-Cabinet media briefing on Wednesday, Johnson Smith dismissed suggestions that Jamaica had failed to show solidarity with the Palestinian people. She reminded that in 2024 Jamaica formally recognised the State of Palestine, in line with United Nations Resolution 242, which calls for a two-State solution.”

@InHindsight

What socio-economic status are you talking about my friend? The GDP of St. Lucia is only 2.4 Billion USD for 2024, Tourism industry alone in Jamaica is over 4.3 Billion USD with a total GDP of over 20 Billion USD for the same period in 2024.

@Slipfeeler

You do know dat nominal GDP is not a measure of economic status?

@Maispwi

On the contrary my friend, the most common measures of a country's economic status are Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Gross National Income (GNI). GDP measures a nation's total economic output within its borders, while GNI includes the income earned by its citizens and businesses, regardless of their location. For individual prosperity, GDP per capita is used, and to assess overall well-being, indicators like the Human Development Index (HDI) are considered, incorporating factors beyond just money, such as health and education.

Walk of shame? The world fighting against one little country with a population of 10 million people - is a thing!
