Our cricket is too poor a level to be at the international stage
And I wonder why we are allowed to parade this garbage
Icc and cwi and the governing bodies should really just limit matches to entertaining games and teams
Relegate the weaker teams to developmental levels - help them work on their pitches coaches and infrastructure and only after they have ascended you bring them back in the fold - with the conclusion of a cricketing audit
People watching an uneven competition does nothing for the game

My fundamental issues with Sammy is that he seems to prefer looks over substance and does not appear to be able to think outside the box. Tevin Imlach bats at No 3 for Guyana and scored a heap of runs in the FC season. He does not even get to play as a batsman and they rely on Athanaze who did nothing in FC and does not even bat at No 3. King and Hope are pretty batsman who have done f--- all recently in red ball cricket. Chanderpaul comes from nowhere and clearly is going nowhere.

From what I saw in that first session it's very obvious that no one on this current WI team have the technical ability to bat at Test level, especially against high quality bowling attacks.

A lot of these batters have developed the lickit mentality of thinking that scoring means boundaries and boundaries only. Very few of them have the technical abilities to work and maneuver the ball into gaps to get singles and twos and keeping the scoreboard ticking over and frustrating the bowlers in the process.

What I saw last night was - lash, lash, out. Rinse and repeat for the next batter.

You need solid defense and the mental capacity to judge line, length, swing, seam and spin. You need a clinical decision making mindset. A diet of white ball cricket does not give you that capability unless you superbly gifted.

@WIForever

And it seems the policy is to produce all format players. CWI one cheap expletives!

@PalsofMine

i like Imlach but i doubt he would have mattered much in this overall very poor team

@SnoopDog

that supports the point i was making above
they technically not ready for test cricket
and should be helped before reengaging at this level.

I won't question the bowling quality of the West Indies. They are a top-class bowling unit, even witha reserve bowling unit. But batting is where they need to make a massive improvement. Bowling cannot cover the massive holes in the batting department. They have to pick players who can score 100s, 200s in domestic.

How will this West Indies batting unit fare against this West Indies bowling unit?

Aha! Question of the decade!

When that is answered WI'll probably figure why WI are where it's at!
