Should be the easiest thing for the batting coach to do

I don’t understand how Reifer can’t correct these ingrained deficiencies in a couple of video and net sessions

It isn’t rocket science

@sudden

because

1) reifer could not/cannot bat
2) does not know anything about batsmanship. he probably thinks these guys are not applying themselves despite their technical chinks being exploited over and over and over and over and over again

Old habits take time to deprogram. but it is disappointing that the supposed better batters in the WI are not performing better than the batters they replaced.

@sudden

It’s not easy to correct any batsmanship flaw in WI cricket, too many outside negative influences, with their own evil agendas, corrupting the minds of the players. It’s obvious they are not following any directive, they don’t discuss with each other, inbeteenovers

These things you learn at juior level. you can correct a few mistakes here and there. Fundamentals have to be learnt at much lower level. Windies batsmen are no Steve smith who changes technique for every series. Just watch how Indian batsmen constructed their innings. You can see the stark difference.

The last four paragraphs are real.

We need magic or a miracle to help these sides that 27 select

It is obvious that the best selection was not made when it comes to 27 the captains and the team.

We need to cut out the head and reverse all those crazy decisions else in two years time the patient will be dead with no hope of recovery

Comrade, there is absolutely no cure for where West Indies cricket has found itself.

Quite a few here are stuck in denial mode...this is a case where the disease is better than the cure.

And In the words of a famous poster here: "WE SUCK." and we've been sucking for a very long time.

The only fault lies in administrators willing to accept a poisoned chalice instead of burying the dead.

the only people who've sucked in WI cricket are windward islanders. that project has been an abysmal failure. 97 years of West Indies cricket you are still as bad as you were back then. doh broad-brush your mediocrity on the rest of the region

Trinbago with population of 1.2 million ( probably 1.5 if you include those in the diaspora) has only produced one great batsman/bowler. Antigua and Barbuda with a population of 100k has produced 4 great batsmen/bowlers. Man go siddung about mediocrity. Please don't utter a word about T20I nonsense.

@Jumpstart

Don't you think that it is time that you starve the meat of ignorance and replace it with the meat of informed debate, leaving behind worn out talking points and embracing a new era of informed and reasoned debate?

Most persons here with a brain molecule would understand that no regional territory is immune from "we suck" except the brain dead.

Cho man!!

@sudden

Was Reifer a skilled batsman or a part time player, in and out of the WI squad if I can remember correctly.
Why does the CWI pick coaches that have not trained overseas or played overseas except their only one in Ravi?
The only thing a coach can do is advise a batsman against the bowlers of whom he "would", should" of studied himself.
Apparently no WI team in last since Lara and Chanders exits have bothered to look at a batsman's technique before going on a tour. They just pick their friends and family and watch their hair type and you are in. If another hair type comes in then sorry for you. You are picked apart in every detail until dropped.
Is Shai a Bajan a test batsman ? NO.
Is Campbell a test batsman? NO
Is Tangerine a test batsman? NO.
Is Warrican a test type bowler? NO.
Brandon King a test batsman? Hell no.
So u have 5 out of the current X1 not fit or skilled enough for test cricket going against no3 India who has a lethal bowling attack and murderous batting line up.
So we got our ICC check regardless. So the CWI can buy more toys for themselves and back in their great bank accounts and look forward to "bonuses" in a few months.
