I don't think West Indies batsmen can rely on "coaches". They need to work on their self-development in longer formats. Back in the days county cricket helped them grow. Now they have restriction there. There is no restriction you should only talk to West Indian cricketers to get some tips. Subhman Gill had a poor overseas record before ENgland tour. He had two conversations. One with Tendulkar. One with Steve smith. Made some adjustment. Finished with 752 runs in the series. WHy can't West Indies cricketers reach out fo batsmen from other countries. Ponting, Smith, ABDV, Tendulkar

How do you know they don't? Blackwood is on record saying he spoke with Kholi who advised him to "bat time". What ails our cricket goes beyond the batsmen asking for tips. There's the issue of self-interest at the top, parochialism, and incompetent people in high places. Surely our batting needs help; however, if the top (admin/coaches) rot, then the tail will ultimately rot. Imagine Floyd Reifer as a batting coach. Inagine sammy as an all format coach and only selector, imagine a President who's response to 27 all out is to defend the passport of the incompetent coach.

I submit to you that George Headley would have a hard time averaging 50 with this lot.

Hey VOR
Jumpy and other sycophants here are working hard to promote their mercenary hommies. But they are just that - mercenaries.

They really don't have WI cricket at heart yet they want the adulation of the fans, a la Pollard and Pooran. Bravo himself said he had no interest in becoming WI head coach. I suspect it's because the financial reward is too meager

PS

Jumpy and Co will revel in the failure of any WI team right now, even with their compatriots in the squad, because they want to see the backs of the Shallow/Bascombe/Sammy/Hope/ Chase administration. All Dotties I might add

These crabs are not West Indian at heart, evidently suffering from Dottie Complex.

VOR, VOR-lite, Inhindsight Vincy etal will revel in the failure of any WI team, even with their compatriots in the squad, because they want to see the backs of the any non-LI/WI administration.

@Jumpstart

You are the definition of insularity.

Everything for you is along parochial lines/ country borders.

Grow up..we have sucked forever regardless of who was ' in charge' in your one tracked mind.

OECS this, Bajan that...you need a new refrain. Yuh nuh have a chair to pelt at somebody.

The fundamentals of these batsmen look high school level. Not sure if we can put all that down to coach. Sure they can try getting the best out of these guys. What is their best? Do we know? Because most of them average in the mid 20s.Does West India play A games/ Do they have under-19 tours? Athaneze was the highest run getter in 2018 under-19 world cup ahead of Shubman Gill. But he never took his game to next level. Why? Everything has to happen at the lower level. Tejanarine is not even half as good as his father. He came from the same system. Wonder if T20 leagues are having a negative impact on Windies cricket. It impacts every country to some extent.

@JoeGrine

If you weren't so blatant probably you guys would at least be listened to

The demise of WI cricket started decades ago under 'YOUR'. Administrators then lacked the foresight to prevent us sinking in the abyss.

WI had been the pioneers in all three formats. Then the world surpassed us each and every time then relegated us to the dungheap.

It is taking a herculean task to get out of this dark hole. I have faith and is still hopeful but there will be casualties along that journey.

Just as many claim that we'll ever dominate cricket as we once did I say empathatically, the injustice of marginalizing the smaller island states can never happen again.

Bray all you want, we will always be at the table and field of play. Also at the helm, from time to time.
