Solozano, Da Silva, Mohan hit fifties

...but weather forces washout

Half-centuries from Jeremy Solozano, Joshua Da Silva and Vikash Mohan highlighted Scarlet Blazers’ innings before heavy rain brought a premature end to their second-round Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board National 50-Over Cup match against Cocrico Warriors, at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy in Tarouba, yesterday. The Blazers reached a competitive 271 for five in 43.3 overs when the weather forced the abandonment of play with the Warriors never getting a chance to reply.

Solozano anchored the top order with a composed 76 off 81 balls, striking seven fours and two sixes to set the foundation after the early loss of Mbeki Joseph for five. He shared in a century stand with wicketkeeper Da Silva, who retired on 57 (46 balls) in an entertaining knock, counting three fours and five sixes. The final round of matches will be played next Wednesday with the Titans up against the Warriors at the National Cricket Centre and the Blazers tackling the Strikers at Tarouba.
