Pull the stats...Shai Hope seems to....

Gets bowled a higher % of the time in any format that i believe is well above average for a recognised batsman....not wishing to detract from his great knock in this test but it's something that I've noticed in the recent past...surely caught has to be the main mode of dismissal for a recognised batsman but maybe the statisticians amongst us will reveal/confirm what i suspect with Shai but pretty sure he gets cleaned up much more than most!

Yep King too but Shai I'm sure moreso....maybe not getting into line as they should!

Shai's issue is navigating the bounce with the short ball. Siraj pushed him back on the back foot, where he played that drive from, and he played on to his stumps. New Zealand will be tough for him as he will be tested on quicker pitches. The good thing is he has some confidence with this 100 and no longer has the burden of the gloves.

Gloves have nothing to do with this.

Shai Hope has been dismissed bowled in 30% of his test innings.

@imusic

Ok thanks...30% seems high wonder how that matches up in comparison to random top batsmen from other countries!

I believe the commentators addressed this back in the First Test. They said when Hope drives, often his front foot is not alongside the ball. There is a gap as he reaches for the ball.

If he middles the ball there is no problem. However, if he misses the front pad canot act as a second line of defence because it is too far away from the ball.

In other words, often when he drives, there is a gap between bat and pad where the ball can go through.

He corrected that in this innings as shown by commentators. He's now batting on centre and his front foot is no longer going straight down the pitch.
