West Indies team just doesn’t seem to have any personality. Cricket is first and foremost still a sport, sport’s figures need to display and believe in a certain self-indestructability, self-identity. They walk out to bat and each seems a clone of his predecessor, mechanically programmed robots, very little improvisational flair, and every stroke by a book written with someone else in mind. 

Shivnarine Chanderpaul was a success; he followed his own book, so for Lara, Roy Fredericks, Rohan Kanhai… spots needs personalities. World boss, love him or not he had personality. Right now I cant even remember the name of Dr ? Who – who tried to drive World boss out of WI cricket in favor of Sammy… but that’s the ethos of WI hierarchy - the beat goes on.

That is true but what we want is that collectively they worry the opposition even if we cannot get it individually. We want the opposition to know that in every innnings, at least 2 players are going to fight back. May not be the same every innings. We had Phillip and Pierre then we had Campbell and Hope and then Chase and Greaves. We want the opposition to know that this is not a fete match they playing. That is all. Then victories will come eventually
