New Zealand opt to bowl

0.1

Matt Henry to Jamie Smith, out Bowled!! .. and this is some start from Matt Henry - on a good length and a hint of nip back into the right-hander, has Smith pressing forward on the block, in doing so, he leaves a gap between bat and pad, the ball sneaks through and crashes into the top of middle - dream start for New Zealand and Henry, nightmarish start for England.

Foulkes to Duckett, out Caught by Latham!! Edged and caught! That's a proper peach and Duckett had no chance - on a good length from round the wicket, comes back with the angle and then nips away from the left-hander, opens up Duckett completely and finds the outside edge, was probably going straight to 1st slip, but Latham dives across to his left and comes up with a fine two-handed catch - England in early trouble after being asked to bat.

Foulkes to Root, out Bowled!! Cleaned up! They're ripping through England's top-order- it's another inswinger from Foulkes, jags back in sharply and Root is guilty of trying to play an expansive on-drive, doesn't cover for the movement, the head falls across and he ends up playing right across the front-pad, the ball sneaks through the gap and crashes into the stumps - England are 5 for 3 and in a heap of trouble.

5.1

Foulkes to Jacob Bethell, out Bowled!! That's a corker and poor Jacob Bethell has no answers - Foulkes and New Zealand are on fire - this looks like a floaty inswinger, very full and angling back into the left-hander, Bethell thinks he's had it covered as he plays forward, but the ball then curves away wickedly, past the defensive prod of the left-hander and sends the off-stump crashing onto the ground - England in massive trouble now as they lose their 4th wicket

Jacob Bethell b Foulkes 2(12)

27 in trouble

Foulkes to Buttler, FOUR, nearly a 5th wicket - what are England doing? First ball and Buttler came down the pitch - Foulkes dragged the length back, it's short and Buttler goes for the pull - there are two men for the shot, one at square leg and the other at short mid-wiccket, he manages to find the gap left to the diving fielder at square leg, was in the air and in the air - heart-stopping moment though for Buttler

Matt Henry to Brook, FOURcracking shot, tad overpitched by Henry - Brook leans into the free-flowing drive, hit it uppishly, but well wide of mid-off and the ball races away to the ropes

pitch - extra bounce, finds the shoulder of the bat as Brook stabbed it onto the off-side

6.3

4

Matt Henry to Brook, FOURlovely, a half-volley from Henry - Brook presses forward, presents the full face of the bat and drives it through the vacant mid-on region, no need to run for those

6

Foulkes to Brook, SIXclubbed, Brook is so good when he plays his shots - wasn't short by any stretch, but he's so quick to pick the length, swivels across and the hammers the pull over mid-wicket for a maximum

7.6

Foulkes to Brook, FOUR, to deep extra cover

Matt Henry to Buttler, out Caught by Latham!! Edged, and it's a one-handed beauty from Latham - England are on the rocks having lost half their side. Superb bowling from Henry - it's the awayswinger once again and a tentative Buttler has a feel for it, plays from the crease, catches the outside edge and goes low to the right of the keeper - Latham had to go one-handed, he does so and comes up with a beauty. The home team are all over the toursists on a wicket which has done just enough to keep their bowlers interested.
