Former England U19, trying out for Jamaica Cricket team

Sun, Oct 26, '25 at 9:27 PM

Former England U19 seamer Jamal Richards is trying out for Jamaica, he currently plays for Kent County Cricket team, and has expressed interest in eventually playing for the West Indies.

Really nice of him wanting to represent Jamaica and the West Indies. However considering the prevailing current poor treatment of Jamaican players by CWI selectors, including the rapid discarding of many Jamaican players, including Australian-Jamaican Brendan Nash after one failed series, despite his previous brilliant performances for West Indies.

I would encourage this cricketer to change his intentions and advise him to continue his pursuit of English Test team for there is a significant history of insularity against Jamaican players, whether they come from home or abroad.

He's a furriner so he will get football, Brendon Nash and in some respects track & field treatment.

@JoeGrine

Not so sure about that since it’s apparent that these people are relentless in their anti-Yardie stance.

Suit up for a Dottie then.

Jamaican's aren't kind to any sports person (but for less that a handful) not domiciled on the island.

Miles Bascombe has already made an open invitation to cricketers in the diaspora to come back home and play for WI. England always taking ours, so hopefully we get a good one back!

We welcome him as the Jamaican cricket production team has not been doing a good job with talent recently.

I am taking bets from fans as to long it will take for you to start criticizing the player. 😐

@Slipfeeler

As long as it would take for you to defend him.
