What about CPL form?

Mon, Oct 27, '25 at 8:50 AM

They selected Chase, Pierre, and Hosein in the playing XI ahead of Motie, who was the highest wicket taker for West Indians in the CPL. I thought the point of resting him in India was to allow him to play in white ball matches 🙄

Listening to Sammy after the ODIs I knew then Motie will be history.

He might as well pack up and fly home....and focus on the T20 leagues

@Seechy

His form in Bangladesh has been poor. CPL was like 2 months ago and it is not at the level of International cricket. CPL form got him in the 15 but he did himself no favores with his form in the ODIS.

Sammy made the right call. I like Moties as I believe he has good allround and all-format potential but he was terrible that last series.

He will be fine.

@Narper

You always reading shite into something. Instead of saying to Motie you bowled crap, do better, you are suggesting he moves on.

Motie is still in our plans as he has always had a great attitude.

Dumbass....defender of Gawd Sammy....ODIs and T20s are not the same....

A T20 incumbent should get the nod in the first match....especially as he offers something with the bat

@Narper

I have not watched a T20i in its entirety in a while, but I watched this one.

I was surprised to see Pierre ahead of Motie; Chase selected to bat at #4.

This is a perfect format for Rovman since he is not pretending to be an all-rounder, like so many others .

Hope to see some wonderful innings from him.

I see very little in Romario Shepherd's cricket as compared to Pollard and Russell

@voiceofreason

Attitude do not win games, performance is everything. Motie has potential, but he has to work on his variations., he has been figured out.

@Seechy

Any league around world be criteria for selection in squad....Motie has been selected....he underwent extensive training at Super Kings Chennai....had terrible ODI series...all three matches....

Pierre did very well....

His selection is justified ahead of Motie.... atleast in Bangladesh series..

It will be interesting to see New Zealand squad.. starting 5th November...since spin do not play that important role in N.Z.......Akeal,Pierre,Motie....

@Onionman0

right now Akeal seems to be ahead of both. Shepherd should possibly not be considered. Where is Shamar Springer????

Tue, Oct 28, '25 at 9:43 AM

@Onionman0

Pierre did very well....

How well....one wicket in 3 ODIs? What was his impact on the results....did we win the series?

ODIs and T20I are different....Motie bowls better in T20Is especially in the middle overs

How well did Pierre do in the 2 tests....1 wicket for nuff....but that rightly wasn't held against him for ODIs

But Motie (with 4 wickets for too much] was deemed to be a failure in ODi and therefore not play T20!

Motie is the senior in T20Is and as the incumbent in the WI side should get the shot at the first T20I

And at times....he has delivered with the bat

Sammy fcuking around...and as he selects 'his team' he will push away players permanently

@Narper

Leaving aside any Sammy comments, it is a difficult choice between Motie, who on his day is a match winner, and Pierre, who is steady if not remarkable. Like you, my instinct would be to go for Motie but he has been in really poor form for so long and then the performances in the ODIs didnt help. I dont think that the decision can be criticized too much except to say that I would play Motie before Romario Shepherd any day. Hope better know how lucky he was in that last over and not try that nonsense again.

@Narper

Narps I usually give lots of weightage to your post..... Very few biases....

I watch all the three ODI vs Bangladesh....

In first match...Pierre gave 19 runs,second 53,3rd.46...

Motie being much more experienced...44,65,53 in 8 overs...in those square turners

He is trying too many different things...wrist spin...left arm.... should clear his head....try to be top class left arm spinner before any variation...

His left arm-spin has been figured out and is a poor match up to left-handers, hence his innovative strategy to work on left-arm wrist spin. It didn't come off in the ODI series, as it's still a work in progress, but at least he is attempting to add variations to his bowling, which is what can lead to wickets. He is also training for all rounder status. But all of this will be futile if Sammy doesn't select him!

@Seechy

Any coach....keep on picking a player....inspite he leaking runs as bowler or batter failing....only on ground....the player trying to reinvent... bowler by adding variation or batter using different stance.....

Add to it....team losing....team trying to auto qualify... Coach head on gallow for losing....

With Akeal excelling..Pierre bowling tightly...

Motie should simply go back to basic...spin,arm ball, faster ball...

@Narper

Why these folks create narratives that hold no water, sad.
