I asking cause I can honestly say I am pleased with his last few outings.

Its like he went through Puberty and grew up in these last few innings.

Is it being trusted to Lead the side, is it him getting a boost of confidence from the Nepal humbling?

I think he has improved beyond bits n pieces...with room still to be even better

@powen001

What you see as “pleased with his last few outings” is the result of a solid foundation that was laid by his mentors and executed by himself all along

@imusic

Who mentored him?

Which Spinner or great voice of reason ( pardon the pun) whispered into his ears?

@powen001

Who mentored him?

Hosein (& others) have been very vocal in giving credit to those who have done the most to help their professional cricketing journey. It’s not a secret

I suspect you know of at least one among his mentors, but for some reason you’re reluctant to say……..or maybe more appropriately, acknowledge.

Either way, it’s not a secret. And if you really don’t know…..

Has Tiger ever mentioned mentors?

It is all about hard work and reps, my favourite player, along with Seales.

@imusic

Oh so Polly?

THats understandable...I thought I would see a video confessional/testimonial of Hosein praising Polly for encouraging him or something

and I asked genuinely...not all Bajans on this board care to engage you in the flag waving folly when it comes to Polly.

In any event...POLLY safe once KAMLA is allyuh leader.

big grin

Remembering that Hosein had a No 1 world ranking in the past so it is not a Johnny Come lately situation. My theory is that decent spinners take longer to develop unless they are geniuses like Warne and Murali or perhaps even Narine (look trouble!!)

Giving credit where it is due, Pollard is well known and acknowledged by me for mentoring Hosein. Just as Bravo was mentored by Lara.

Sammy got mentoring of sorts, from Hunte and Hilaire.

They all (ie players) have contributed significantlyto WI cricketon the field of play.

Has Tiger ever mentioned mentors?

Yes. His dad. In both cases

I aint begrudging him yah know... I know when he first came on the scene he showed promise.

I did not recall him being number one in the world so forgive me for that...

I wont even ask yuh fuh proof , I taking you at your word eh?

I am hoping he continues to be a talisman come tomorrow as well...

You may not like it but I am a straight shooter.

When it comes to cricketing matters I am not among the most hated. But just for having my poltical views I am public enemy number 1.

And you believe the lies of a certain St Lucian poster but I don't care really.

Most times you jump in with little clue as to what transpired or was said before.

I don't care too much for your flattery. But we can be cordial if we agree on cricket matters

Tiger and the Williams sisters' dads handed them off to coaches and got out of the way

Tiger built a three-hole court on his property where in son is learning by practicing with some of the top players.

How many West Indies players would practice driving a ball 200 times between two pylons, having to start from one, when you miss it?

@openning

Shiv’s dad was also apparently instrumental in his early development

So was Lara’s dad before he passed.

It’s not uncommon for WI players to have parents actively involved in their cricket development.

Kraigg Brathwaite’s dad would be another example. There are many.

@imusic

Most parents had some input in their children's early development; they are parents, not mentors

Some players are close to former players and are able to pick their brains, but most former players would suggest getting a coach..

People speak of Michael Jordan's accomplishment, not saying anything of the many jump shots he had to complete between 10 pm-1 am before finishing his day.

Have you ever heard about Joe Montana and Jerry Rice's preparation in the offseason.

Montana would call a play, close his eyes, and the ball would be right on the money.

Practice and preparation are what's needed.

Mentors are good, but it is your work that will move you to the top of the ladder.

Hosein and Seales are two players who show improvements every year. You think that happens without putting in the work?

BTW, heard that Chris Jordan is working to become a coach; he is going through the transitional phase.

@openning

so according to you, a parent cannot be a mentor?

I disagree
