Would Bidaisee have been

Sun, Nov 2, '25 at 5:18 PM

1) ...a better option than to have toured Bangladesh with Motie, thereby providing valuable experience for the up and coming wrist spinner?

2) When did management finally realize that Motie's deep in form was due to technical deficiencies?

3) Could remedial help have been available in the West Indies had he not toured?

To me...Bidiasee is real deal...a batter use feet against spin...a leggie with wrong one...harness..

WI fans are high on Bidaisee. but in the upcoming 50-overs tournament it is going to be interesting to see if he will be included in the final eleven of the Trinidad team. In my opinion he still has to improve his bowling, he spins the ball from the front of the hand, at the international level most batters will not be bothered

@InHindsight

in hindsight, yes to all😀

@Onionman0

maybe he is better off playing the super50 series and getting in some longish spells to gain control and confidence? We are killing ourselves over a wrist spinner and ignoring that we have no up and coming offspinner worth spit

WI cricket might be affected by the cancelling of the two teams from the regional competition. Over the last 5 years players from the CCC or WI Academy have gone on to be selected for the WI team without ever playing for their national teams. The national teams tend to select more known players over the upcoming young players.

@dayne

Cancelling of Academy team in particular is a travesty. I know we have cashflow issues but this is very shortsighted. Academy was an important bridge for the U19 players to senior cricket

To me...Bidiasee is real deal...

He may well be except that is is untried.

Would be good to have a good wrist spinner in the West Indies but let's him get some miles in his feet in the super50

@PalsofMine

Yes... last year's he did play 4-day match...did reasonably......in Breakthrough league.....he was good....in CPL ..was definitely a find...vs Nepal...also performed....

@InHindsight

Absolutely.....get some regional experience...but then performance at regional is called dungheap.....even totally ignored.....but Bidaisee should be on field.... improve his art..

Tue, Nov 4, '25 at 7:22 AM

this is not fully on topic but I believe that CC/WIA should be replaced by a Board XI which can comprise the best of unselected players in the region whom the coaches believe are of or just below regional standard.. It will be a real shame if players like Evelyn, Bowen Tuckett, Pittman , Josh Bishop etc who have shown some promise are simply not given the opportunity from now on

Tue, Nov 4, '25 at 8:28 AM

@PalsofMine

Good idea, it would be a disadvantage to WI cricket to see those players you mentioned just be spectators at this period of time.

@PalsofMine

I am very concerned that the academy players had to be dismantled due to lack of funding.

Reports are Isaiah Thorne isn't getting the structured continuity nowvthat hes back in Guyana. After all that has been invested in each player this is shameful.

Powers thar be in Guyana, please pick up the slack

Tue, Nov 4, '25 at 9:24 AM

@InHindsight

Thorne seems to be his own hazard, he looks out of shape and bowls many times out of control, everyone has to take responsibility of their game. Other bowlers have pass him.

@dayne

Do we have the luxury in the WI to bypass a young promising bowler who may have difficulty for whatever reason, in managing his continued development?
