I loved the bold and intimidating presence of the great man and as per usual with West Indians he was a pioneer of the limited overs format(s). But Hope and guys like Gayle lived in an era of scientific and deep analysis of the players.

Hope's biggest strength is his consistency whole Gayle's was the destruction of bowlers and occasional big scores

ODI = King Viv

T20I = King Gayle.

Hope is a distant 2nd.

But great to use Hope's name in the same breath.

Says a lot about him.

You present a good argument but not sure Hope is a distant second as you say. He is definitely in the conversation and may leave Gayle in the dust. Who knows

Hope is still carving out his legacy. I agree that Gayle is legendary. Hope os far off, in white ball

Hope is right up there with the best at least in ODI cricket. No questions Abt it. And he's got many yrs left in him to go past many great players

Hope will pass Gayle in ODIS, T20IS doubt it. Viv will remain at the top as the Man was before his time with a S/R of 90+ and a brilliant fielder. At the end of the day Hope may well be considered 2nd best in ODIS.
