Should Hosein have played

Thu, Nov 6, '25 at 3:11 AM

In any of these two opening T20Is given

  1. This is a small high scoring ground
  2. With so many lefties up front for the Kiwis
  3. His record versus lefties are starkly inferior to right-handers.

Notwithstanding he is one of if not our premiere T20 bowler.

Shouldn't the matter of "horses for courses" really have applied in this situation? Is management brave enough to make such a call? Who are the options?

In effect we played with one player short in two games.

For me some bad decision making

@InHindsight

I would say Motie is the premiere spinner in the region. Spin the ball both ways.

Hosein is to bowl early in the innings more bad decisions from 27

What a dotard

@pariaman

Ditto

@pariaman

You that dotard don't see the bigger picture.

Hosein is not suitable for these conditions given his record against lefties, the pitch conditions and the size of the ground

@InHindsight

You keep talking about his record against lefties. Whats his record? Is it worse than other left arm spinners. I seem to remember him getting a lot of lefties out so im curious

@pariaman

Hosein should bowl earlier, yes but worst decision was bowling Seales rather than Shepherd in than last over. Seales now learning his trade in T20. Even though Shepherd went for runs earlier it was different batsmen and he has the experience to close out

@Logic

Go do the research.

In any case do you think this presented favourable match ups with all the left handers and ground size?

It's instructive that hevonly bowled one over each game.

Having the extra batter would have proved more beneficial.

The 'tipping argument' aside from all the other unfavourable was the size of the ground

@Logic

No problem for me with bowling Seales just as it was for Forde in the death last game.

Yhe guys must be working on their death bowling skills and the barometer is in the middle.

Player development is a greater priority in the current circumstances

It looks like the NZ's planned on how to attack Hosein. two expensive matches, it seldom happens to Hosein

Any time a cricketer has a bad game, he should be dropped instantly.

Even if he, as Hosein is, ICC's number one ranked T20 bowler.

Drop his sorry rass!!!

@dayne

He had one expensive over in one match. Previous match he bowled one over for 4 runs one wicket. He just came on too late today to a rampaging leftie. Must have 6 bowlers in a T20

@VIX

No body spoke about dropping Hosein.
