The Aftermath of the very destructive hurricane Melissa demonstrated the resilience of the Jamaican people. We witnessed persons who lost all rallying to unselfishly providing support in resources to other persons who were more severely impacted. We saw young students from Kingston College travelling down to the ground zero parish of St. Elizabeth to assist students at STETHS, a popular cricketer-producing high school.
The vast Jamaican diaspora has been mobilized and are actively shipping large number of plane loads of food supplies and other well-needed resources to their home country Jamaica, from US, UK, Canada and from several other countries.
Let me also hasten to thank our fellow Caribbean countries for sending assistance to Jamaica, we are very appreciative and really heartwarming to see even smaller islands send their donations. Despite efforts to divide us, we are still one people and one love to you all.
