Wally: "The batting can be labelled as reckless but again, in this classic debate, if the ball went for a boundary, we would label it as good batting." -- Ha! While that is true to an extent, the shots that WI have attempted have been low-percentage ones at best. Here's Santner now

Phil: "NZ missed a trick here with selection, could have had 4 seamers, 2 spinners rather than 3 and 3, and Neesham is barely a third seamer. Foulkes could have had a field day with his swing and seam today" -- Perhaps, but they probably also want to see how this combination goes, given the T20 World Cup will take place in conditions that may aid spin more.

Things did not go to plan for WI in the early part of the powerplay, but around Chase, they have gotten their act together a little. They bat incredibly deep, and if this partnership can stay together for a few more overs, they will fancy their chances of going past 175-180

Wed, Nov 12, '25 at 8:12 PM

Aneesh : "Think West-Indies should still continue to play shots because they have a very deep batting line-up and getting 150 in 20 overs won't be useful and they should just gamble ad try to get 175/180."

Neesham to Chase, OUT

edged and Chase's resistance has been snapped! Short outside off and this is there to be hit. Chase feels as much too, and gives it the lot. Seems to be a tad late on the stroke, though, and he feathers it through to Conway. Chase is disappointed and livid with himself as he walks off. Vital, vital wicket for the hosts and WI, just as they were building momentum, have been pegged back again!

big lbw shout, but that was probably sliding down! NZ want to have another look, though! Googly on a full length on middle and leg. Spins back in a touch and Shepherd, who has no clue about this variation, plays down the wrong line. Rapped on the front pad, with part of middle stump and whole of off stump visible.

4

Sodhi to Shepherd, FOUR runs

just over! Floated up full and wide. Shepherd's eyes light up and he gives it all he has. Not off the middle, but he has enough legs on this slice to take it beyond short third!

14.4

Sodhi to Shepherd, no run

back of a length just outside off. Shepherd gives himself room but ends up scuffing it to extra cover

14.3

4

Sodhi to Shepherd, FOUR runs

through the gap! Too short, too wide and too inviting for Shepherd. He sits deep in his crease and knifes it between backward point and short third!
