Campbell, King, Ojay, three Yardies. We can't have that.
Well, only if we're looking for ready-made scapegoats upon the expected cut-ass.
@Onionman0
Why drop greaves when he scored a fifty in his last match? And why would shields get a automatic spot and layne and phillips have to fight it out when they took wickets in the warm up match ?Chase need to start scoring runs ti justify his place in this team much less captain it.
It is hard to leave out hodge but chase is captain and hodge only could come in if they decide they want hope to wicket keep
@Onionman0
I would play Imlach so move Hope to 3 drop King Imlach after Athanaze juat before Chase.
They will go with:
Campbell
King
Athanaze
Hodge
Chase (c)
Hope (wk)
Greaves
Layne
Warrican
Phillip
Shields
@natty_forever
I agree that Tage will open with Campbell however horrid time he had in India. They will not open with two Yardies. Plus, play Oshields. SMH.
@Onionman0
I like your team, but with the following changes and justification:
All three openers will play by virtue of their form in the last match.
If Greaves is indeed injured, then Hodge will definitely play since he can bowl some.
Tage
Campbell
King
Athanaze
Hodge
Hope (wk)
Chase (c)
Roach
Phillips
Layne
Seales.
West indies need all the batting they can get, therefore seven batsmen and four seamers with Chase as the spin option and Athanaze to pitch in as a change bowler to give the pacers a breather.
Warrican and Chase together in this team in NZ makes the team weaker.
That was the reason for my post about Chase being a liability to this team.
It is very important that Tage, King, Athanaze and Chase perform this series, since their test careers depend on that.
Campbell, avg 25
Chanderpaul, avg 29
King, avg 18
Hodge, avg 25
Athanaze, avg 25
Imlach, avg 14
Chase, avg 25
Greaves, avg 22
Hope, avg 25
Take your pick, it really does not matter. They will struggle in those conditions against a decent side. Shocking when Tagenarine Chanderpaul has clearly the highest test average among the current batsmen - and even he is short of having an average of just 30.
The strength of the West Indies test side is patently, the bowling. With Shamar & Alzarri both missing due to injury, the task got much harder.
@embsallie
Hope has to give up the gloves , and take on the batting as the no 1 batman.
Hope WI main batsman Must be relief of the burden of wicket keeping duties and play Imlach.
in WI last Test match Hope did not kept and he scored a magnificent century.
So why would Hope be given the gloves again .
However, dunce Sammy have been doing some very stupid things since became the sole selector so I will not be surprised if Hope is forced to keep again .
