Arawak sponsors cricketers for Bolivarian Games

Arawak & Co. Ltd has thrown its support behind the Trinidad and Tobago men’s cricket team ahead of their historic participation at the Bolivarian Games in Peru, providing full funding for the stipends of all travelling players and staff. The contribution comes at a crucial time for the squad as they finalize preparations for the multi-sport event, and the Trinidad and Tobago Cricket Board (TTCB) has expressed its appreciation for the company’s investment in national sport and player welfare. The T&T contingent expressed its gratitude to Arawak & Co. Ltd for their timely support and for standing firmly behind local cricket as the team prepares to fly the national flag in Peru.

The T&T men’s cricket team is expected to arrive in Peru early next week, with a technical meeting scheduled for Tuesday and matches commencing on Wednesday. “I’m sure everyone will be just as hungry as us, so it’s important to not take anyone lightly. Jamaica and Barbados are powerhouses in the Caribbean and will have strong teams. I’m not sure about the make-up of the Peru team, but there are new conditions and home-turf advantage, so every game is basically another final to play.”

In the T20 format, teams will play a single round-robin, with the top sides advancing to the gold medal match. T&T open their campaign against Barbados on Wednesday from 1 p.m., while Jamaica face hosts Peru at 9 a.m. On Thursday, Barbados takes on Jamaica at 9 a.m., followed by T&T against Peru at 1 p.m. Friday’s matches feature T&T versus Jamaica at 9 a.m. and Peru versus Barbados at 1 p.m. The final is set for next Saturday at 1 p.m., with the third-fourth place playoff earlier in the day at 9 a.m.
