A man who never took a step back. his family's statement is leading

Since his retirement from the game in 2004 [Robin's] battles with alcohol and mental health have been well-documented but these should not form the basis of speculation about the cause of death which will be determined at postmortem investigation," the statement added.

Living in an apartment (by himself?) having mental health & alcoholism issues for many years.... yeah.... seems like those played a major role, unfortunately.....

Only two weeks ago, Smith met with the England Lions squad during their tour match at Lilac Hill in Perth following an invitation from Andrew Flintoff, offering advice on international cricket and telling players stories of his own career for more than an hour.

In the past few days, he had also spoken to media, discussing his career and the issues with alcoholism and depression that had marked his life since retiring from cricket.

Oh no, this is sad. An uncompromising competitor stood up to pace like fya like a stalwart. That Saffies born man was one of the most successful vs WI 4prong."Walk Good" Robin, may your family be comforted.

I always used to be mixed up.

On the one hand I wanted him out, on the other, I enjoyed his "not backing down" attitude.

Rest easy, Judge!. Your bat - like a gavel - restored order.

I never forget that broken jaw that he experienced against Courtney Walsh. After being struck flush and you heard the sound on the TV the man still wanted to bat,you can see his face swelling so fast.Ah tell yuh what, man is a strong animal he didn't budge an inch.

yeah. sad that some people have to endure such a tortured existence. i suspect the strains of professional sport didn't help either and his last year or so with England was horrible under Illingworth.

Very sad to hear. I hope he got some support from family, friends, colleagues during his illness. A cricketer to be admired all the time. A real Saffie to the core. RIP

RIP Judge!

I remember the many battles he had against Ambi, Walsh and co. Was a great player of pace bowling.
