'Puss Tail' did very well last night on debut

NZ 40-1

Kane Williamson 29(4cool

Tom Latham 2(47)

Ojay Shields, right-arm fast medium, comes into the attack

16.1

Ojay Shields to Latham, no ballFOURshort, wide and four, a gentle start from the debutant, oversteps and then offers width to the left-hander - Latham gets on top of the bounce and cuts it square past point for a boundary

16.3

Ojay Shields to Williamson, no run, beautifully bowled, fuller length delivery and swinging away late, the length drew KW into the drive and he's lucky not to have edged it

Ojay Shields 1-0-7-0

18.4

Ojay Shields to Williamson, no ball, a debut Test wicket for Shields, but it's a front-foot no-ball, heartbreak for the youngster, pitched up and jagged back into the right-hander, drew KW into a casual drive and burst through the gate, crashing into the top of off-stump, but the joy was shortlived

Ojay Shields to Blundell, out Bowled!! Huge strike. The debutant gets his maiden wicket. Fuller ball, swinging in, Blundell goes for the drive and gets an inside edge. The ball crashes into the sticks. The little discomfort before the over wouldn't have helped as well. NZ lose their set batter. The batter went for the drive but didn't really move his feet much.

Ojay Shields to Michael Bracewell, out Caught by Chanderpaul!! Oh dear! That's a brainfade from Bracewell and he's tossed his wicket away - deep mid-wicket was set-up and he's fallen straight into the trap - good short ball from Shields, banged into the left-hander and was still climbing onto him, Bracewell took on the fielder with the pull, can't get on top of the bounce and hammers it straight down the throat of Chanderpaul. That dropped catch hasn't cost them a lot.

Ojay Shields -
Delightful feeling (on making his West Indies debut), this is what we play for in domestic tournaments, to represent the Caribbean Islands at the international level. So it's a very good feeling. Mixed thoughts, with age coming on and the thinking that it was a challenge to represent at the international level, was playing at the franchises level and did think of giving up (on cricket). It was emotional, that first over was, my heart was pumping like, like real hard, but I took control of my emotions and I just did what I had to do. It was like a dagger to my heart (on the no ball dismissal of Kane Williamson), but I did get over it. It was just to be aggressive in my lengths, you know, bowl as fast as possible and a good length on half stump or first stump. So that was just a major plan (on the bowling plans). They tried to let me keep it simple. This wicket is true, has more bounce and pace, I just wanted to exploit it. Honestly, I'm just looking to stick around as long as possible and just work on my game and stay as consistent as possible

Ian Bishop on air related how he got the name 'puss tail' , When was younger he bowled all over the place...outside off , outside on with no real control....ball moving like a cat's tail.....hence his nickname became 'puss tail'

@Narper

Nice, pity his 1st Wkt wasn't the great Kane. He did get the two other set batsmen though.
